- amelius 11y agoNo, because Linux had libfuse ages ago.
- didulive 11y agolibfuse: 2001 Dokan: 2007 We are in 2016...do you still still try to understand which came first, the chicken or the egg?
- icebraining 11y agoI think the point is that Linux gets that stuff first, since it's a more open system which makes it easier to hack stuff into.
- dsp1234 11y agoWindows has other user space file systems, and has for a long time. OpenAFS goes all the way back to 2000, and had a windows 95 client even[0]. Comparing libfuse to Dokan is like comparing fat16 to HAMMER. It's recent, but not the first by any stretch https://github.com/openafs/openafs/tree/ba3d4666cbd19b56bcec1e80aa9bb001e193cc9f/src https://github.com/openafs/openafs/tree/ba3d4666cbd19b56bcec...
- naasking 11y agoAnd microkernels had user-level file systems since the 1980s. By your logic, you must have been using those for quite some time.
- geofft 11y agoWindows had user-level filesystem implementations years before Linux had FUSE: https://github.com/openafs/openafs/blob/7f4414ae3983fe7260de19cf3ccb7659d76a33f3/src/TechNotes-WIN9X https://github.com/openafs/openafs/blob/7f4414ae3983fe7260de...
