I'm one of those hold outs. I had a iPhone 6 for a month and it literally gave me anxiety because I couldn't thumb around Spotify and other apps like I was used too. I traded it in for a 5s and have been using it ever since. I figured I would have to keep it until they stopped putting iOS updates on it. Really glad they did this.
- giarc 11y agoI predict they will sell a ton of the SE's. I'm in the same boat, the 5S was great and the 4.7" and larger screens just seem too big. I have been waiting for the SE to come out.
- jonkiddy 11y agoAgreed. My 5S broke over winter, 4.7" was too big as a replacement. I tested a 6 in my jeans pocket and it felt odd to me. I immediately purchased another 5S instead. Looking forward to a SE.
- giarc 11y agoI could have upgraded a few months ago but held out as rumours of this phone have been around for awhile. I'll be happy to upgrade as I suspect the iPhone 7 will be a 4.7 or 5.5 and those are just too big for me.
- xufi 11y agoI agree I also prefer a smaller screen here and want soemthing that fits well in the hand
- puranjay 11y agoThis will be my first iPhone. Love the size, love the price.
- ihuman 11y agoIf you don't mind me asking, why that give you anxiety?
- taspeotis 11y agoIt would give me anxiety if I dropped AU$1400 on a phone I couldn't interact with properly.
- NamTaf 11y agoWhy, when you have 14 days to just take it back no questions asked?
- NamTaf 11y agoTo elaborate since I'm apparently being downvoted and can't edit: In Australia, which I'm assuming the parent is part of since they specified AUD$1400, Apple specifically allows for a 14 day return policy [1]. You could drop AUD$1400 on the phone, find it does not suit your needs, then return it and get something else no questions asked. In that sense, Apple specifically alleviates that anxiety of dropping AUD$1400 on a new phone and as a result I don't necessarily understand why the parent would find it anxiety-provoking to find it doesn't work for them when they can easily receive a refund. - taspeotis 11y ago> get something else For two years Apple _didn't sell_ a flagship 4"-or-smaller phone. So that "something else" was an Android phone. Which, if you're locked into the iOS ecosystem (or just plain like it) ... would be a bit anxiety inducing.
- NamTaf 11y agoFair enough, though you could revert back to a new 5S and be no worse off. It's a bit sluggish here and there but I'm typing this post on one and it's still my only phone and holds up for 95% of tasks.
- masklinn 11y ago> I figured I would have to keep it until they stopped putting iOS updates on it. Really glad they did this. Then again, considering the 4S is still being updated I'm guessing the 5S still has quite a bit of life in it. No SE for me though, I can't live in 64GB anymore.
- scope 11y ago> couldn't thumb around... Double tapping the home button makes the top of the screen reachable That being said, I too still use iPhone 5S & I don't think I'll make the switch, 4K video & 2nd generation Touch ID are nice but I WANT 3D Touch. I understand why they're not there yet --- they had to shove some of the battery on the 6S to fit in the 3D hardware. EDIT: seems they stuck with the first generation Touch ID? - fredleblanc 11y agoYeah, but the process to using "reachability" in my experience is always something like: reach for the button because I can totally make it, accidental palm-press on the bottom-opposite corner, undo mistake, try again with different hand angle, do it again, undo it again, then remember about reachability shortcut, double touch home button, reach button.
- jayflux 11y agoSo THATS what it's doing! I thought it was a bug.. TIL
- tedmiston 11y agoYou can also disable it in settings if you accidentally activate it regularly like I did.
- calinet6 11y agoThe fact that that's needed at all points to the fact that the design is not optimal in the first place.
- swax 11y agoSame here I went from a big Android phone to a smaller 5s two years ago and haven't looked back. I never upgraded to the 6s because it's too big. I can finally upgrade, yay!
