Internet Explorer is still the most popular browser among users worldwide. Chrome is the most popular browser among certain techies. Chrome is also popular among users tricked into installing it via forced bundleware with Java updates, free antivirus engine updates, and (ironically) Flash plugin downloads for Firefox.
- PhasmaFelis 11y agoJust like IE is popular among users tricked into installing it via forced bundleware with Windows?
- reitanqild 11y agoMicrosoft was forced to include the browser choice thing for a few years in Europe. I wish someone would take a closer look at how Google push Chrome as well.
- bhousel 11y agoOh hi 2012, what are you doing here?

- pbhjpbhj 11y agoWikimedia and US Gov I'd expect to be pretty representative of web users in the USA as a whole. They both show Chrome with a considerable lead. However I purposefully didn't try to interpret the stats there to allow people to make their own mind up. If the "Net Applications" stats are correct then any insight as to why IE users visit Wikimedia sites so seldom?
- JohnTHaller 11y agoI removed the post as I thought we were talking about desktop only. IE is used far more at work whereas Chrome, safari, Firefox et al are used more on personal devices. You'll actually see a rise in ie use during the business day if you track hourly on many sites.
- JohnTHaller 11y agoApologies. I'd skimmed this earlier and thought we were only talking about desktop browser share instead of overall.
