A beautiful fractal zoomer, directly in our web browser
- cwmma 11y agoshameless plug for a similar thing [1] I helped with a while ago, it uses a mapping library so I didn't have to reinvent anything, my fork [2] lets you fiddle with the julia set parameters 1. http://aparshin.github.io/leaflet-fractal/#julia_0.750.11i/2/0.0/-90.0 http://aparshin.github.io/leaflet-fractal/#julia_0.750.11i/2... 2. http://calvinmetcalf.github.io/leaflet-fractal/#500/-0.37/0.6/julia http://calvinmetcalf.github.io/leaflet-fractal/#500/-0.37/0....
- rburhum 11y agoThat's a clever use of leaflet. Cool.
- CoffeeDregs 11y agoVery nice. In case you're interested in something less nice, but 3D, see: http://www.alsonkemp.com/geekery/webgl-fractals/ http://www.alsonkemp.com/geekery/webgl-fractals/ Or: http://d1r5286bar8cf9.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/web-fract-3d/output/index.html#?r=0.15163467100198016&i=-0.010272622498403848&size=1.76731167142073e-9&divisions=200&aspect_ratio=1.6560509554140128&max_iterations=300&fractal=MandelbrotPlus http://d1r5286bar8cf9.cloudfront.net/wp-content/uploads/web-...
- RamshackleJ 11y agohttp://neverwork.in/static/Interactive-Experiments/Fractal-Flyer/High-Performance/fractal.html http://neverwork.in/static/Interactive-Experiments/Fractal-F... more 3d fractal fun
- flavor8 11y agoNo keyboard navigation? Not everyone has scrollwheels.
- solendil 11y agoYou're right, I just created an issue on Github. It should be fixed soon.
- sirsar 11y ago"Cannot zoom further." That's a bit ironic. Otherwise, very nice!
- ekimekim 11y agoI'm guessing that's due to floating point error.
- jluxenberg 11y agoOooo, very pretty. The one is also fun to play with (3d fractals): http://hirnsohle.de/test/fractalLab/ http://hirnsohle.de/test/fractalLab/
- aarongolliver 11y agoAlso this (technically 4d, but I can only render 3d...) https://www.shadertoy.com/view/lslSWH https://www.shadertoy.com/view/lslSWH
- RamshackleJ 11y agonice! really unique form. Shadertoy is the best thing to happen to glsl for years!
- jbpetersen 11y agoGonna toss another into the mix: http://firefractal.com/ http://firefractal.com/
- a-nikolaev 11y agothis is very nice!
- bascule 11y agoNo color cycling? That's like Fractals 101...
- solendil 11y agoThere's no psychedelic automatic color-cycling, but you can cycle colors with the "Offset" slider in the "Colors" tab.
- gruez 11y agoWhy is it scroll down to zoom in? The standard behavior is to scroll up to zoom in.
- solendil 11y agoIt was a bug. It is now fixed. Thank you!
- jff 11y agoPretty rough on somebody with a Thinkpad 3-button trackpoint, maybe use +- or [] or something to zoom in and out.
- lukaslalinsky 11y agoWhat I find amazing is how fast this is. I didn't realize that JS got the point when you can do things like this.
- karlb 11y agoI've spent literally hours exploring Frax for iOS. The images are incredible: http://fract.al/ http://fract.al/
- david-given 11y agoJust be careful you don't see too much. See question 8 here... http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v402/n6761/full/402465a0.html http://www.nature.com/nature/journal/v402/n6761/full/402465a...
- Devid2014 11y agoUnfortunately this is very slow. Compared to proper native implementation of course.
- dyeje 11y agoWas a little touchy on a MBP, but great job.
- pg_is_a_butt 11y ago... uh... "beautiful"???? the frame rate is terrible, blocks and glitches everywhere. zooming isn't smooth or intuitive, and just before you get into the interesting parts, "cannot zoom any further". this is a pile of shit and you should delete it.
- solendil 11y agoFractalJS can also be embedded in other web pages: http://solendil.github.io/fractaljs/embed.html http://solendil.github.io/fractaljs/embed.html
