Just an observation. There are perhaps 10xers in 'software development productivity' but a company should pay based on a different metric, 'business value productivity'. There is nothing saying that a 100% increase in software productivity will cause a 100% increase in business value. Sometimes the relationship will be 1/1 sometimes 1/10 but sometimes 1/0.1 or even. 1/-x. It depends on so many things (how clear and adequate the goals are, the state of development, the context of the business).
