This is amazing.
It also speaks to the absurdity of FPSes. I was laughing so hard at all the little FPS tropes. Like how the guns were cached in "obvious" places or how the guy knew there would be something of use inside the conspicuous pot outside.
"Okay, now dual-wield the pistols."
--said no one ever in real life
- InclinedPlane 11y agoThey tested dual-wielding on mythbusters, it's absolutely of no advantage. You can't shoot faster or better since the gating factor is not the gun (you can shoot semi-automatic pistols extremely rapidly) it's the ability to focus and aim more than anything, both of which are hampered by dual-wielding not improved. P.S. In terms of raw cool-factor, it's hard to beat this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tEYcUSQDyw https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3tEYcUSQDyw I won't spoil it by describing it.
- smtucker 11y agoUnfortunately it is hard to scientifically test the rule of cool
- n0us 11y agoThey forgot to use the crosshairs and auto-aim
- wingerlang 11y ago> it's the ability to focus and aim more than anything But if you're swamped with zombies, then maybe simply having more firepower is an advantage.
- InclinedPlane 11y agoYou can empty a magazine in seconds, being able to reload quickly with two hands is vastly superior to anything else.
- wingerlang 11y agoHow about shooting with the double wielded guns. Then simply dropping the second one to reload. That way you would get the extra firepower for what it is worth. Then you can go reload super fast after that.
- InclinedPlane 11y agoIt takes maybe 2 or 3 seconds or so to unload even a double stack magazine (with, say, 20 rounds). There's really zero advantage to dual wielding.
- wingerlang 11y agoBut we were talking about a situation where you find two guns.
- sgk284 11y agoThen pocket the second gun until the first runs out. If you've got a buddy, get the zombies coming through a fatal funnel. You shoot straight at the funnel while your buddy reloads the inactive gun. This allows you to maximize accuracy while the lead never stops flying down the hallway (until you run out of ammo).
- wingerlang 11y agoBut there are zombies on each side of you, and your "buddy" is just some chatroulette guy who can't help you.
- EGreg 11y agoWhat if exactly 14 zombies were coming from both sides?
- piptastic 11y agoI think you're forgetting the obvious solution of having tons of preloaded magazines strapped to you. Single button magazine ejection, slam your Uzis down onto fresh 100 round magazines. Bonus points for an automated system that moves the next set of magazines into the perfect arms length position at your side for the next reload. Two handed reloads are for chumps when you are fighting zombies. You would be the guy I'm standing behind to give me that extra few seconds while they're busy eating you. That way once I finish off your attackers I can pick up your freshly loaded (but unspent) gun. And triple-wield!!
- scott_karana 11y agoThen, alternate between the using the two pistols one-handedly.
- abandonliberty 11y agohttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DpCellB_UQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7DpCellB_UQ An example of what (a world record holder) can do with a revolver.
- kendallpark 11y agoI think a case could be made for dual needlers though, if they ever exist in the future. ;)
- rawTruthHurts 11y agoBut this is mistaking games for real life, right?
- abandonliberty 11y agoThe quest for realism is interesting. Reduction to absurdity: a fully realistic FPS would cause PTSD and mental trauma to its players. What do we actually want to create with our games? Complete lack of realism can be fun (e.g. surgeon simulator), and these games are proliferating. Games with more realism may be able to create more meaning and insight for their audience.
