So, small in-order CPUs will be the future of commodity distributed computing after all? I doubt they will resort to that though. They can do other tricks, since they control the infrastructure, like turning on process isolation automatical

It's not that mild. Still an attempt to stop information government doesn't like from spreading. Still targeted, more broadly, but targeted. Still requires internet censorship infrastructure to even be able to order ISPs to block

DHT doesn't need every node to have a persistent reachable address from every other node directly. It's ok if some have persistent addresses, some can be reachable after NAT traversal or only through other nodes acting as relays.

You are not describing a terror attack then. The point of terrorism is propaganda.

Terrorism doesn't require hidden communication channels. But it is actually propaganda, usually foreign, so governments feel threatened by it and naturally want to block it. If they can't, they can decide to block the next best th

I sometimes wonder that too. There are tons of simple things HTTP and web browsers could implement to make everyone's life better and easier. Make redundancy built-in, for example, or a primitive peer-to-peer content delivery for stuff

Technically stub resolvers and recursive resolvers are the same thing (one is an inherent part of the other). So all is needed is recursive resolvers to communicate securely with authoritative servers. Tunnels to third party recursive resol

This is rather weird claim. Getting your account hacked is the least of your worries, when every single thing is maintained by a single organization, a single team, on a single autonomous system, with lots of reliance on single hardware and

You can't disable javascript in a browser, but leave "a few minor javascript improvements". So the difference is between allowing all the ad tech, surveillance, malware or not.

Within next 10 years maybe. It doesn't solve anything though and is plenty of time for DPI vendors to pursue other snooping techniques.

If you can't trust your ISP, leaking all of your DNS traffic to another party still doesn't let you trust your ISP, but now you have to trust that other party too, hence net negative. To avoid trusting your ISP you need at least a

Your ISP doesn't really need DNS traffic to know things about you, IP addresses alone leak a lot of information, add to that SNI, response sizes, active probing, clear text traffic, etc. and you should realize that the only thing DoH d

It's hard to take them seriously when they imply the mess that threads are is somehow acceptable and necessary, but nicer, less error prone and simpler fork isn't. Threads are a nasty hack and a liability for the modern programmer

In addition to ad blocking, VPN is becoming a very important feature for modern web browsers. With so many countries blocking websites and websites geoblocking users it becomes necessary to help users circumvent that to access a wide web. T

You got resilience pretty wrong here. If you start with a single PC at home and a single ISP, you actually get like three nines of availability, not everywhere of course, but in urban areas you mostly do. Which is almost exactly what a data
