Sometimes maybe? Sometimes stereotypes arise because of inaccurate portrayals of a group in popular media.

But most early computer programmers were women. If it’s just the environment they grew up in, then why did programming computers shift over the 20th century from being a job dominated by women to a job dominated by men? For the record, I

This is called “seeding” a list and is standard practice for data brokers. But maybe that’s a sign they’re Bond-esque criminal organizations…

Haha we had the exact same experience. My mind was blown by PHP as a teen and I even made decent money in high school making websites - all without ever setting up a local environment. I didn’t keep doing dev work and had a different career

Actually from reading this thread I can’t see anyone who suggested paediatricians are requiring the COVID vaccine. In fact one clarified that in requiring all routine vaccines they explicitly did NOT mean flu or COVID

Maybe 30 years ago. But there has been a US president who admitted to cocaine use and still got elected in a landslide. Of course it depends where and in what milieu but in the US mainstream I don’t think the stigma to some past drug use is

Really? I live in Japan but am not Japanese. I speak Japanese and have many Japanese friends. I’d feel quite different about joining a hiking group that was 100% Japanese as opposed to one that had a mix of Japanese and non-Japanese people.

I think I remember Facebook was pretty toxic even before it had an algorithmic newsfeed. Maybe not as wild as now, but people being mean to each other and saying awful things was very much a thing. Same with oldschool forums, too.

I started a small agency and do consulting. So now I’m a guest in various different project channels across several client Slack teams + manage my own contractors etc. Much quieter :)

Yeah this is definitely a good idea but I think personally I need the structure of having specific set times to check it, as opposed to it just always being an option whenever I encounter a boring or difficult task.

I don’t have ADHD but I get very distracted by Slack. Here’s what worked for me. 1. Slack app uninstalled on my phone. If I need it for something, I install it, use it, then delete again. 2. Slack app on my laptop fully closed by default. 3
