TBH well-prepared plain quinua should have a very neutral taste. But if you don't wash it enough, you won't remove the soap-ish outer layer so it ends up tasting bitter: https://i.ytimg.com/vi/JdBFm-697eM/

I thought it was satire. Although you might make an argument for why reducing time-to-trade from 50ms to 100ms would not be the end of the world

It's not about the servers, it's about the users location. If a judge in France can succesfully that no one in the US can no longer find results for XYZ on Google, I find this troubling.

Edit: or is it a move by Softbank to get the Sprint-TMobile merger approved? "Son is no stranger to grand goals, even if he hasn’t always delivered. He planned to combine Sprint, the No. 4 U.S. wireless operator, with its next rival T-

I still feel like I'm missing something. It's not just the fact that it's going to be more labor expensive (after all, the yuan has fell a lot recently), but that the entire supply chain is in China, so if you produce in the

For me, it's Python 2: weird quirks (unicode support sucks, I have to do from future import for a lot of things, etc.). On the other hand, Python 3 fixes many of these things, and even others that I didn't realize could be better

That would be my first thought, but that's not how it works. If 50% of people had placebo and the drug had a real effect on 10%, then: - Placebo results: 50% - Drug results: 50% + 10% * 50% = 55% To detect a difference of 5%, you need

Indeed. But I was replying to the pro-libertarian point of view, where municipalities or airport administrations play no role in the taxi industry, which sorts any problems "by itself"

Not really. There is an econ paper that explains why (Xavier Gabaix's shrouded prices theory), but the idea is this: There are some consumers that are naive (tourists in this case) and you can exploit them (go to the airport, and wait

That was not his point. When you extract oil, you don't really get a single product but multiple ones (heavy oils, lubricants, etc.) Before you might be selling lubricants cheaply, because after refinement you had lots of lubricants as

+1 for MTailor. Not affiliated at all, but I ordered several shirts and a suit in the last year and it fits amazingly (and it's quite convenient to order from the app). Do be aware though, that it will take ~ 4 weeks (slower than buyin

Interestingly, the same might be true with languages. Quechua (from the Andean Mountains) only has three vowels (a, i, u). I can't find a reference, but AFAIK the main hypothesis was that a 3-vowel system made it easier to communicate

For me the most interesting chart is #2, "My Country is the Best Country in the World". Some countries (US, AUS, and a bit less the UK) show a marked divide between young and old responders for this. Any ideas why?

How is Thiel's support for Trump consistent with Trump's stance on climate change? It's one of the largest dangers faced by the world, and I don't see how ignoring it is like "fixing the alzheimer of politics"

Do you really think Trump will reign over banks or reduce military exports? I'm not asking an asshole question or being rhetorical. It's just that I can't see how or why would Trump choose to do that, once he is in office.

Ok, I'll take the bait: I see a Bloomberg article attacking the company as the cause for the DDoS. I go to their Crunchbase and see that the founder is very young, entered college at age 12 (although that contradicts his linkedin), etc
