"Discriminates against"? Or rather "does not discriminate in favor of"?. I think it's the second, which seems to be perfectly right: hire the best person for the job.

Best way to promote a young product is to give it for free to people creating free content. That will bring more users. Content is what brings users.

No free plan for free courses? That would be useful for open source projects.

It is. I started up and failed, then got a job and everything was fine. But after 9 months, I was down for 6 month. I think I was still in startup-sprint mode for the first months at the new job but PTSD finally hit me.

I concur. I was project manager for a migration from Microsoft SQL Server to Azure SQL. There were all sorts of problems, performance being one of them.

And Alma Linux is here already, with backing from a commercial company with has direct access (same time as Red Hat) to the security issues.

Is it possible to build real applications with Cosmopolitan? I'm thinking stuff that requires other dependencies, e .g. build a universal Python interpreter by using Cosmopolitan. Would that be possible?

As a long-time Linux user, I cannot remember when it was the last time I used LibreOffice. I have been using the free-but-not-opensource WPS Office for years, and it's great. Lightweight, featureful, works a lot better with Microsoft f

I'm afraid you have misread. They are talking about traffic volume (bytes per minute; usually you'd see megabytes or gigabytes per hour but they are massive so they said per minute). You are talking about transfer speed (bits per

In 2 weeks, Trump will not be Mr President anymore but just a citizen and he will not have TV or radio shows to appear on. But forget about Trump: what if Facebook or Twitter decide tomorrow they are going to censor YOUR account? What recou

Censorship was already present in social media and in the last few days, it has become a lot more powerful. Those people saluting the band of Trump's Facebook and Twitter account will not be so happy when they are the ones silenced. I

If this could be used to build a Python interpreter that runs anywhere, and maybe even be combined with PyInstaller, then this would solve one of the most annoying problems of Python as a systems programming language.

Nokia had a number of problems back before Elop joined. Those were the cause for the actual demise. Elop did his own bad by going Windows Phone instead of Maemo but that's another story. Nokia did a very good move in 2008 by acquiring

Ooops, I meant "you will miss some of the advanced features provided by zypper". It's dnf what's lacking the concept of patch, and many more.

Springdale Linux is on RHEL 8.3 but their homepage is awfully out of date. Here's the full ISO for 8.1: http://puias.princeton.edu/data/puias/8.1/x86_64/iso/ And then you can add the repos to u

Not really. You can use Alibaba Cloud Linux 2 like that if you want but why would you do that? Oracle Linux, CloudLinux, Debian or openSUSE Leap are better choices.

Packages are RPMS, managed with zypper. You may also use dnf but you will miss some of the advanced features provided by dnf (e. g. the concept of patches vs updates), there was a zypper vs dnf thread recently in the openSUSE mailing lists.

openSUSE Tumbleweed and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server also run on IBM Z mainframes. I don't see how "Red Hat" has revived mainframes, they are not doing anything SUSE, openSUSE, Debian and many others are already doing.

How is "work from home becoming the norm" an upside? It might be an upside for some people but it is definitely a downside for others. PS: I've worked from home for more than 10 years, for several companies.
