This is pretty, and a nice framework - but it needs a LOT of optimization before it could be considered anywhere near usable.

Hey, I'm extremely interested in open source computational biology/biochemistry and find this very interesting. What do you do to make money whilst exploring and contributing to these areas?

I advise reading good fiction, especially "hard sci-fi", to get your mind in a good place for the startup scene. Like most people on HN probably would, I recommend reading Neil Stephenson's books, especially Cryptonomicon, Th

Thanks to Cambridge for making this available to the general public, under a CC 3.0 license! The images are crystal clear, and easy to read. Props to Newton, as well :)

Having spent some time in India dealing with scattered govt. Windows infrastructure, this is amazing news. This may also open up many new opportunities in computer education and literacy which is very deficient in the country. I really ho

This is incredibly well done. Did you just download all the data and analyze it with some crazy R skills?

I'd like to know this too. I can't find a way. Maybe I'll right a script to scrape it.

They still have about 2 weeks before the pinger runs out of battery. So there is a decent chance they could find it within 2 weeks, but if the wreck isn't found by then, it could definitely take years to find it, if ever.

You should probably resubmit this without the paywall. It is frontpage worthy, but if I've learned anything, HN does not like paywalls at all. :P This link works http://online.wsj.com/news/articles/SB10001424

I empathize with you! I enrolled in community college after leaving school in 1st grade (yes, first grade. I was six). No high school diploma, no GED. After 2 years I transferred to a top 50 university, and it's a miserable system.
