It wasn't open source at the beginning. (I know, I was there.) We open-sourced it early on, but it started as closed-source software.

I also closed it after trying to scroll to the first message in a couple posts and not finding it after a whole bunch of Ajax loads. I kept looking for a "jump to the top" button.

Elon would not have the right to purchase the discounted shares. Only shareholders other than the one with > 15% can buy the shares for half off (till they hit the open market, of course).

There are stipulations that come with buying shares. In fact when you buy shares, they’re never even actually in your name. They’re like 3 steps removed from you via various holding companies that are basically a bunch of various crap. One

Yes, but typically when you're losing money like that you show user growth on the other side to justify it. Twitter doesn't have that.

Twitter is not a growth company by any metric: Users, revenue, or stock price. If they could easily generate lots of revenue right now with their current management, they absolutely would already be doing it.

I have the same experience. It feels like the download experience was only really made for the “I’m watching a series and want to keep watching it on the plane” use case, and not the “I downloaded 10 episodes of Micky Mouse for my 3yo on ou

Ultimately that's the case. But the board may decide to reject the offer without doing a shareholder vote. (That's probably what they will do). That's when the shareholders sue.

That's correct - his offer is not hostile. If they reject it, he could attempt a hostile takeover by buying up enough stock to install his own board.

Lawsuits by the shareholders suing the board for not accepting the offer. Happens all the time.

The hypothesis doesn’t say that all reporters always get things wrong. The point is that we can read reporting on something we’re very familiar about and notice how flawed it is, but when we read other reporting from the same source we just

Only tangentially related: It is super delighting how quickly the M1 laptops wake up. I’d gotten so used to several seconds of waiting for my previous MacBooks to be usable again after opening the lid, but it’s always immediate on the M1. R

When we got a nice induction stove we spend years showing off to friends how it could boil a pot of water in about 15 seconds. But the thing we like most about it is how easy it is to clean. :)
