While the comments here are almost universally negative, this actually isn't that bad of an idea. Not just because of the freedom aspect, though I'm generally fairly principled about that--I'm more concerned about security an

Pedantic aside: I guess you mean non-associative multiplication? That is, ax(bxc) versus (axb)xc. Since rounding happens at different times, they can give different results. Floating point multiplication is indeed non-commutative as well, b

Cool game! A few notes: I think your choice of license may be incompatible with the GitHub terms of service--there's an implied right to fork by using GitHub, but your license states no derivatives are allowed. IANAL, but something to

Weird. I got to 80k in Firefox, and stopped because it was pretty slow and not getting faster--not really challenging at all. I tried again in Chrome and its a lot faster, and does get faster throughout the game as well. More fun and challe

Cool, I hadn't heard of this. I couldn't find much info on a quick search, so here's Intel's reference: http://www.intel.com/content/dam/www/public/us/en/documents/...

With Python's evaluation/assignment order, both parts of a complex assignment happen at once--which is the source of the weird behavior in the article (A[0] is assigned to before the subscript of A[A[0] - 1] is evaluated).

The first--the latter isn't in order (expr3 is "evaluated" before expr2, which in this case means assignment).

Shouldn't that 16 be a 256? 4 squares with 4 orientations each = 4^4 = 256. But yeah, definitely pretty doable with a brute-force memoized search. I imagine a lot of state space could be pruned by doing some analysis of when squares ca

Seems like a lot of this speculation could be replaced by a few benchmarks to see whether the phone actually got slower... but I guess that would take more time than looking at a Google trends graph.

Looks fairly similar to PPSPP: https://datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft-ietf-ppsp-peer-protoc... Both look pretty cool, I'd like to see some more traction in this area.

As a general rule, when anybody refers to a problem being NP-hard or whatever, they're talking about a generalized version of the problem, with at least one "size" variable--the time complexity has to be polynomial/expon

Ah, yes, I had forgotten that I didn't test in anything other than Firefox. I'm very much not a web developer--working with JS is really quite a pain, and I had to use as much ES6 magic as possible to make it tolerable. Looking no

You can do arbitrary computations, but you only get the encrypted result. So you can't actually tell whether x == y unless you have the key.

cd is a shell built-in, not an external command. It has to be, since it changes the directory of the shell process, which can't be done by a child process. So shells do have to implement this specially.
