If a table bell rings to signify such an event and it isn't recorded on a podcast, was it ever actually rung?

I rely on AppCode's tools often, but I can't get past the icky-slow-Java-app feeling for everyday use. Do you just put up with it or is there a "Don't feel slow" checkbox I'm missing?

I absolutely loved the views and controls articles, something so basic but so usefully in-depth. I acquired many of the facts they mention through trial, error, and WWDC sessions over the years... my coworkers would think I was talking out

It's a bog-standard CalDAV server, which isn't an API, of course, but at the same time, it sorta is.

They can't win, can they? I'm sure if they did exactly what he suggests a long, long time ago we'd be hearing how evil they are for not allowing calendar apps to work properly on the store.

Similar type of deal with [going 64-bit]( https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=18323 ) on Mac OS X. Has languished for multiple years. DirectWrite shipped in 2009, one month after Snow Leopard wi

Mail 7.0 is buggy for Gmail. Every other indication I've seen is that it is designed for and complements plain, real, compliant, standard IMAP perfectly fine, including Fastmail, to the extent where you can shoot yourself in the foot w

Safari gets Nitro, Apple's JIT, but historically it has been unavailable to apps (via UIWebView) for security reasons. I'm unsure if the new Objective-C JavaScriptCore API gets Nitro.

Yeah, the statement is all well and good, but I'm no fan of being lectured about the spread of dangerous ideas by a man who thinks homosexuality is contagious and whose power was mostly gained by family ties and rank in the Kremlin pre

To me, GNUStep has always been a cool project but cripplingly behind. It's always moved at a glacial pace, even in comparison to Apple's glacial framework development pace. I think your excellent blog posts over time are evidence

I'm toying with running my own mail, calendar, and contacts on a VPS. Tired of being a second class citizen in Google's eyes for not using their apps.

While I can't find myself living without push, it's not like ActiveSync is the silver bullet. Contacts in Exchange, for example, are a ridiculous and horrible mess with a limit of three on everything and no custom synced fields.

It's not actually a bad choice at all, though, considering their CalDAV support is best-in-class.

Kinda shameful that DPI scaling has never been a thing in Linux. I'm glad it's being worked on. I'll keep a Linux install kicking around once Wayland and/or Mir land with this stuff.

I'm at least annoyed that an LLVM static compiler was hyped up for MacRuby (some code was even available) less than 6 months before RubyMotion became a thing. Always felt fishy to me.

I think the people without the taste to use it properly are of the type to not understand the physics involved and therefore wouldn't be able to use it properly. I'm not saying it won't be used wrongly, just look at [Write](

Is Safari/native WebKit hooking straight up to Core Animation on OS X and iOS? I know when the Windows version was still around its WebKit was using Direct2D, even before IE did. I wonder what that would look like in the comparison.

To OP's point, if anybody at Apple at all were going to be asked by the government, I have to imagine Jobs would've been left out of the equation. That's one loudmouthed asshole you didn't want keeping secrets for you.

I'm not sure, although the implementation of SVG-as-`img` is still fairly buggy for me as far as dynamic resizing goes. This technique doesn't help with that, I'm just pointing out that the support isn't really all the way there.

While I agree that there needs to be a "fix" (and I have to assume one is in the works), but taking the Microsoft route of throwing money at problems until they work put them into the position they are today.
