Is price significant for public/state universities as well in US?

Not sure how it is in USA, but in Georgia (Europe), muggers are usually caught after 30-60 mins when you call police. And belongings are returned to you. Not necessary some luxury items... even your cheap cellphone [from 00s] counts.

Have you seen MIT OCW videos?

Yes. It is astonishing how institutes with huge budgets put videos like these (it is quite common with such big names as MIT).

While you can find a lot of video lectures (complete courses) about OS dev, I'd really like to have some Database systems dev course from coursera or any other source.

Just one thing, last time I calculated: from 150K gross salary, you get 90-100K net after taxes. Also consider housing prices in SV and that 150K doesn't sound that good anymore ;) That said, you should aim for 150K+ base salary, plu

As passive as possible, but I'm usually careful when using word "passive" for significant recurring revenues.

Yes, Bratko's book is on my reading list but never got to it so far ;)

No, those are two different things. And being the "author" of that recurring revenue I believe feels much better than e.g. just having a rich grandfather (but the later case is still better than nothing, probably ;) )

This is why most of us need significant recurring revenue - to have a time to work on things like this :)

As for binding, yes, you can come up with similarly looking examples, but they are different in essence: Erlang has pattern matching, while Prolog has unification.

I always mention Art Of Prolog along with SICP, when asked about good books.

Well, besides that Erlang was initially implemented in Prolog, I don't think these languages have much in common except punctuation symbols :)

Anyone can point to the list of supported merchant/developer countries for Apple Pay? Or is there any plans to add new countries to apple appstore? It is 2014 and I'm still unable to publish [any] apps on Apple app store and paid

Actually, many company blogs have this problem. What I meant is that why not have some company logo in the header which points to the company website?

While we're at it, why I have to remove "blog." prefix from browser's address bar in order to get to your company page?

I developed a significant project in C++ Builder more than a decade ago and it was a really smooth experience.

Well, I'm a heavy IDE user. On Linux I was on KDevelop (and now Qt Creator looks nice as well), on Windows mostly MSVC. I can't imagine working productively in vim and similar environments. But I still find Java based software

No matter how time passes and how powerful desktop I use - java based software are just slow and bloat (especially IDEs). Even for some Java related work, I preferred to use JCreator (which is the only Java IDE purely written in C++ I belie

As I remember AppCode is a native (non-java) app, right? CLion requires Java/JDK which is a huge deal breaker for me, for things like IDE.

Didn't they already have some kind of C++ IDE before? AppCode maybe - but that was OSX only I think.

I see no reason why someone should limit shimself to such a narrow field ("iOS" in this case). You shouldn't limit yourself even for "Mobile"... I mean, you're an engineer, you solve tasks, no matter if it is i
