How does LuaRocks implement the cross-compilation? Lua is widely used on embedded platforms, so I wonder how easy it will be to just take a random module from the LuaRocks and build/deploy it for some MIPS or ARM board?

That's definitely good news, but seems like it's far from what was planned for Go support for Android (there was a document on Google Docs about it this summer). They seem to fixed the linker, leaving the networking issues open so

I personally like this solution. I don't know why there's so much negative opinions on this. Yes, it doesn't solve the problem of generics as a language construct and it doesn't provide macros as a language construct. Bu

Nice concept, but the configs still look write-only to me. Here's my two cents: https://bitbucket.org/zserge/mucks Much-much simpler, and definitely less intuitive, but supports screen and dvtm as well: http:

My assumption is that since DosBox simulates the same hardware on different platforms/OSes - it's possible to write a DOS game once and enjoy it on Linux, Windows, Mac, Android etc. Cross-platform games with retro flavor, why not?

Can VM be built separately from the compiler, so it could be used on small MCUs?

Great job! I was looking for a small and simple embeddable language (smaller than Lua) for a long time. Solid looks very promising to me.

Good question. Now I use "android:" namespace by default (if no other namespace was given). So, for custom namespaces you write "mynamespace:foo", for android namespace - just "foo". I've just updated AAML to use prefix "=:foo" for default

OK, that may work with a hardware keyboard, but what about a manner of typing on on-screen keyboards? Will I be able to log in from the tablet or phone?

Haxe is a nice language, though I don't like it's verbosity (hey, it's almost like Java!). Maybe I'm too much spoilt with coffeescript, ruby, python and other syntax-sugary languages.

Yes, the developer is from Russia. But there's a nice english documentation as well: http://instead.syscall.ru/wiki/en/gamedev/documentation Plus, INSTEAD supports URQ games that have a much more simplified syntax.

Talking about text adventures, the INSTEAD project is worth trying. It's a simple text adventure game engine written in Lua and ported to many platforms, including Android. http://code.google.com/p/instead/ Also, it includes some really i

Writing emulators is fun. Remember all those Chip8 emulators, Brainfck machines, P-code machines? I think DCPU is a really nice RISC CPU, and without marketing - how many people would start writing ANY emulators or diving into assembler?
