I started blocking off Wednesday every few weeks for personal projects and contiguous blocks of rest and time away from work and family. It's been amazing. I can focus on my paid work during the week while knowing that a very short int

Disputes automatically refund the amount disputed plus the fee. The onus is on the merchant to fight the dispute and claw the money back. (Disclaimer: I used to work at Stripe on the dispute resolution team. I no longer work at Stripe.)

I have a number of Dell Wyse 3040 thin clients (5v version, there's also a 12v version) scattered around my property. I've converted two of them to PoE by the simple expedient of buying a USB PoE splitter, cutting off the USB conn

I'm not an accounting expert by any means but I've been around long enough to see far too many examples of single entry accounting systems that have gone completely off the rails and nobody knows why because meaningful data (i.e.

In our house captions went on the same day our first baby came home from the hospital and haven't been turned off since. Captions let parents of small children enjoy entertainment without bothering kids who may be sensitive to noise.

The simple solution would be to get an ARM MacBook or Mac mini and debug your builds on hardware. If this is a business then that's a tiny expense vs the collective time wasted by other devs dealing with crashing.

I really like this article just for the straightforwardness of the setup. Pets not cattle should be the home server mantra. My setup is not quite as simple. I have one homeprod server running Proxmox with a number of single task VMs and LXC

Proxmox + Proxmox Backup Server + external storage (I use my NAS) means I don't really have to worry about disaster, as such, because every VM is backed up nightly. VMs and the hypervisor can all be pets and I can just restore a backup

Why not offer a financing facility? Surely a company the size of GM could negotiate low or no interest financing for dealers on the order of $400mm.
