Meh, everyone doesn't have to cater to the lowest common denominator all the time. Besides, I can't say I find the geminispehere very elitist or excluding after browsing it on and off for a year or so. There are no gatekeepers apa

In my experience, generating documentation from code is a fools errand (unless it's API documentation). The key (and hard part) to documenting existing code is to understand which details emphasize and which ones can be left out. I rea

When I did some Zig a month or so ago, I had great help looking at the tests, e.g.[1]. That being said, the state of the documentation is also the reason why I gave up on it for now. But I'm sure it will improve over time. [1] https:&

My current (air gapped) development environment includes CDE 1.6.2 on Solaris 10. At some point some devs found this to be a bit... dated, and decided to roll WM flavour of the day: Fluxbox. Sadly, one of the X components was missing from S

Sorry no, we just used various apps and reduced the lists they provided manually. Usually the lists local to my country are only a thousand or so names long, so it's fairly quick work. I think that might be a bit more tedious for the U

Yup, that was important to us as well for our first kid. And we actually ended up with a name we're very pleased with (and one that had never really crossed my mind before), something I honestly didn't think would be possible when

As someone in this process right now, my reasoning is more like this: remove "Adolf", remove all names that end with 'y' (local rule), remove all names already taken by close friends and colleagues (you wouldn't wan

Personally I find the Uni-Ball Vision Elite overrated, and favour the simpler and more understated Uni-Ball Eye over it. They're also better to chew on.

Yes, I would agree. Making it "difficult" to drive or more attractive to ride a bike in city centers aren't enough to make people get ditch their cars here, as people rely on them for so many other reasons.

Sure, but I don't see how that has anything to do with what I wrote. I'm sure Utrecht have found a good balance. My point was about smaller cities adopting the same kind of ideas (removing parking space, closing roads to cars), wh

Sweden. A city with the same population of Utrecht would make it the 4th largest in the country. The cities I had in mind are much smaller than that.

I think one needs to be a bit careful about copying this. I've noticed a similar anti-car trend (I don't mind bike lanes) in my country in recent years, but the cities are kind of too small for it to work. When they make it imposs

I remember some colleagues at work labeling me as a blue person a few years ago. I didn't pay much attention to it, as it came from the types of people you'd expect taking this kind of bait. I think the interesting thing here is h

I'm in the same boat. I find Discord's UI a strangely unintuitive mess. Slow and clunky, and for some reason there's always a bunch of patches that need to be applied every time I start it. Patches that never seem to improve

Much like you program any other computer. At my shop we use C, C++ and Ada. Some problems suit themselves well to modeling, so something like Simulink can be used (which translates to C++). What throws people off is usually the fact that th

In my part of aviation (not in the US) we have a person responsible for each subsystem, and they very much risk going to jail if it turns out they've been negligent. If it's not safe, you don't sign the papers saying it is. P

No, we cannot produce anything even close to as capable (and versatile). There is obviously work being done in this direction, but what I've seen has at best been able to augment parts of the operation envelopes.
