When I was learning to program there was no Internet and there were preciously few technical books on the market. Often I had to resort to trial and error, where error could easily mean watching my machine rebooting, since there was little

That's the problem with most arguments and information in these topics. It seems to me that both sides can come up with information that would require almost a full-time job to reasonably verify. In the end it usually boils down to finding

This has to be some weird issue on your side, I don’t see any latency on my 1G iPad when playing the drums. (Otherwise there would be little point to the whole application, right?)

Stack Overflow actively tries to avoid open-ended discussions because it’s not a discussion site. I see that as a feature.

I’ve written a block-based UIAlertView and UIActionSheet wrapper that makes working with alerts and action sheets less painful (no more button indexes and alert tags): https://github.com/zoul/Lambda-Alert

If somebody’s wondering about the double dot like me: “A common misconception is that number literals cannot be used as objects. That is because a flaw in JavaScript’s parser tries to parse the dot notation on a number as a floating point l

They could be considered clever tricks because the Java type system does not seem very well suited to expressing such higher-level invariants. These excercises are interesting, but smarter solutions are not magically guaranteed to perform b

While that's true, it's hard to imagine a platform with millions of users willing to pay for apps and shortage of good developers. With the recent events it looks like Apple is mistreating all iOS developers, but in practice I think that mo

I simply like the platform. The hardware is nice, Objective-C is a pleasant language for me to write in, the library is very well thought out. And it certainly does not hurt that we can keep the company afloat by developing for iOS -- we si

As the article states, the numbers come from referals collected by Toplist, a Czech web stats service similar to Analytics. Not sure how that itself skewes the results. What’s more interesting is that Google only comes before its competior

Good point. One of the main reasons against non-standard UI design is that there is a huge amount of behaviour attached to the standard UI and once you start implementing your own interface elements, you’ll almost never get everything rig
