This is a conspiracy theory supported by Bolsonaro and his supporters. In reality NGOs active in the Amazon are more likely to live under death threats and barely have any funding at all for even basic activities.

And OS/2 was better than Windows. Technical superiority doesn't matter. And to be fair Ethereum has more scalability problems than Bitcoin.

I'm a reasonably hardcore environmentalist but this is true. There will be many armchair experts here suggesting that stuff should be done in Brazil but they never propose things like "let's shut down New York for two months

Programmers should get whatever machine makes their build times tolerable, which probably means a pretty fast machine. Not because they are superior beings but just plain-old cost/benefit analysis. Product managers and designers should

I've seen people use Octave in their workstations but I never worked where Octave code was used in "production". It was more of a individual prototyping/exploration tool for those who knew it.

I think the West avoided using this as propaganda against the Soviets because that would only call attention to the equally massive and more recent Bengali famine, which was engineered by the British.

Luis Suarez's move was like sacrificing a queen in chess. He used his hand and accepted his red card. "Cheating" would be being on steroids or bribing the ref or something like that.

I agree, and I was confused regarding the comments about the colors of the rooms in Garfield's house. The last pane even sort of implies it's "realistic", in that there seem to be two walls that actually have those color

This is the thing that used to be called Safari, right? This is great, but a tad expensive at $50/month. I wish O'Reilly would just charge a bit less for that.

This "rule" against passive voice doesn't exist in every language. What looks like good writing in English may look like childish, repetitive prose in other languages.

FWIW I am attracted to Sourcehut's aesthetic exactly because it's not a "2020 theme", so I've been using it and paying for it. Pages are simple and functional. Github makes me feel tired, overwhelmed, and it require

Anyone old enough to remember what the press said in the 90s about the Internet will recognize the similarities. The Internet is full of fraudulent websites. It's full of porn. Email isn't as warm as a hand-written letter. Communi

Yup, it's all about incentives alignment. If you get promoted for shipping a feature but you don't get promoted for saving 40 minutes of everybody's time every day you will get a lot of features, delivered slowly.

The same thinking applies to PCs and supercomputers, but sometimes we trade efficiency for convenience. That's happening in the "microcontroller" space too (which are surprisingly powerful nowadays).
