Doesn't sound like he or she considers it "fun". Different tastes I guess. To me, all the "problems" mentioned are the whole reason I'd love to undertake something like this.

This is why all my vacations are "zero technology". I bring absolutely no electronics except for an old non-smartphone in case of emergencies. This way I don't have to feel guilty, because I can't be "productive&quo

I would put it as downright hostile and exceptionally cynical actually. Critical would be fine in itself. I once accidentally (by a third party) had an article of mine reach the front page of HN, and I was actually afraid of reading the com

Ignoring the obviously sensationalized and wildly inaccurate headline, this is another great example of how well the DMCA actually works (not being sarcastic here). The information carrier is exempted from legal action, the party that filed

From what I've always understood, the philosophy isn't "everything is a file" (the unified namespace variant), but "everything is a file descriptor" (the API kind).

When it comes to sexual bias, hacker news readers/commenters generally discard the "evidence" bit. And of course, nobody mentions the author's obvious anti-male and age bias ("but when I viewed it through the skewed

Strange. I see only one blocked, and I've got everything blocked and auto-update turned on. I think your ghostery may be malfuctioning, because a cursory glance at the resources doesn't reveal much out of the ordinary.

I find it funny that the author chose to publish this on medium. Had he not, would I have ended up reading it? Which is better, reaching a large audience with mild incitement which is tolerated by the censors, or being able to be as provoca

Not all exploits are zero-day exploits. As I understand it, a zero-day exploit is one that is used in the wild before it is disclosed. Plenty (most) vulnerabilities are only disclosed once a fix has been implemented.
