No, you are hugely underestimating variance in blackjack and the amount of hands needed to approach statistical significance. If you do the math, you should see that after 14,000 hands with 0.25% house edge, the chance of a gain is around 4

This change also needs to penalize pages with full screen ads that are not always being shown (NY Times among others do it). Can anyone at Google confirm or deny whether these types of pages are being penalized?

I think this Jeopardy challenge was so interesting in terms of general AI that it'd be a shame if the original team completely shifted their focus onto new fields. There are a lot of goalposts left, such as beating humans without the advant

At least get your terminology straight, this has nothing to do with SEO.

I'm really surprised that Google would make such a sudden change. I would've expected lower rates or allowing free use if AdSense ads are placed on the maps or on the same page. Such changes could've been easier to accept for many sites ins

The point is that Wikimedia is blatantly breaking Google's spam guidelines. Whether they sell links on Wikipedia or Wikimedia domains makes little difference as to their effectiveness in improving spammers' rankings in the search engines. I

There is no unique page about "page rank" on Wikimedia's site, so search engines that would return it as a result would be doing something very wrong. Try "job openings" in Google. I see Wikimedia as #7 in the search results, right after hu

Please read about how PageRank works. There is no distinction whatsoever about why they are able to sell links on that page (because of all outside links to Wikipedia) and no distinction about who the money goes to (Wikimedia). There is no

Because of how PageRank works, no, there is no real difference at all. Wikipedia's homepage and many other pages link to Wikimedia and that's how it gets its high page rank and that's why it can sell the links this way. Other links on Wikip

This is still against Google's spam guidelines, though. If they are to be consistent, I think they have to take action.

Wikipedia is the flagship project of Wikimedia. I think you're nitpicking if you think there is much of a distinction on where the links are appearing.

If the email quote from that page is accurate, then this is very blatant and the largest scheme in dollar amounts I've seen to manipulate search results. However, I will be quite surprised if Google does anything at all to penalize Wikipedi

Right, I understand technical reasons why Wikipedia outranks this site. Google started by being terribly arrogant in thinking that they are smarter than SEOs and their search engine would be so hard to game, that they made the Page Rank val

This has been disproven many times. People with commercial and political and other motives can write Wikipedia's content, which can be much more damaging than clearly marked ads. Also, since Wikipedia copied, regurgitated, and sometimes int

What I'd like to see somebody from Google explain to me is why Google considers Wikipedia as an example of a high-quality site (Cutts says so in http://www.wired.com/epicenter/2011/03/the-panda-that-hates-... ), when Wikipedia users copied
