I wonder if an artificial tsunami of the same scale can be achieved my setting off a nuclear bomb underwater? This seems to be more damaging (infrastructure-wise) than a direct nuke hit.

If you quit your job, but fail and end up homeless & broke you can come here and start another thread like "You made me quit my job now please help me find another one". This is a very helpful community, so I guess you'll probably do OK

I'm sorry to say this but you'll probably have a hard time getting well received by anyone who has seen this thread. The most influential members of this board are popular because of the value they bring here. They really take their time be

I wouldn't do any business with Mediatemple. They wanted me to purchase a hosting service just to do a 301 redirect whereas GoDaddy or Name.com do it for free.

It's possible to access your service at sparkmuse.appspot.com but Twitter OAuth redirects to sparkmuse.com. If you can configure the authorization so that Twitter redirects to appspot URL it will be possible to register. Then you can do a 3

The scope, rather than the language is what you need to focus on when starting to learn web development. Choose 2 frameworks, a "big" and a "small" one, then develop similar applications on both of them. This way you'll have chance to see t

I've built http://www.tweethit.com Basically it's TweetMeme for online products. Processing Twitter Streaming API, about 400k tweets per day. Having some problems with failing cron jobs without any error messages though.

What I'd love to see in this project is not just articles about "hot startups" but also articles that are focused on "lessons learned" from failed or pivoted startups. That would really increase the value of this website for me.

Thanks to HN, I found out that only my persistence and creativity is the limit regarding my software development career. Being a corporate software drone is not the only viable way of having a decent life.

Also if you're doing any government and "enterprise" gigs, hearing the word Oracle and Java somewhat makes them happy. I bet there's some Dilbert comic about it.
