They are not just protesting TARP recipients, but "corporate welfare and corporate greed." I live in New York and went down to Zucotti Park a few days ago and was told this. They were also flying upside down American Flags. It's not just Wa

"Do you want to sell sugar water for the rest of your life or come with me and change the world?" I wouldn't be surprised if cosmetics were lumped in with sugar water on that one.

I wasn't hating, I'm a free market capitalist. I was suggesting it was contradictory of the protestor.

Make-up itself costs very little to produce, so I suppose I could have just said mark up. I'm not an equity expert, but I have the feeling that how that one specific company has performed over one quarter isn't a great indicator. They still

That's fair, but it's definitely not the most effective means. If a woman takes 5-10 minutes to apply make up each day, and if they decided to allocate that towards some other activity, the amount of time spent doing something more producti

And yet she packed a make-up kit. For someone who is "protesting" corporate greed it seems contradictory to wear cosmetics from a protestor's perspective-- they have a gigantic profit margin. As a male, I'll never understand how cosmetics a

I once had a question on a first year calculus exam that broke down to problem 17. It took a while to figure it out, but the exam got bell curved up by almost 50% in the end.

I agree. Consider these two things: 1) Verizon has twice as many subscribers as Canada's population. The US is a way bigger market. 2) Generally people aren't as excited about your ideas as they are in SF or NYC. People here seem to be way

As someone who lived in Montreal for 4 years, it gets old pretty quick. I now live in Brooklyn for comparable prices to what I paid in Montreal (rent is a bit more, but food is dirt cheap in NY) and like it much more.

Cool. I've been testing out an app called ExpandDrive which does something similar but it hangs like crazy if network bandwidth goes up.

Anyone have any insight to using a tool like this over pymongo directly? I find that the nicest thing about mongodb is how flexible it is, and any other type of caching is easily done with redis on the side.

Building new browsers and OSes give developers more choice, it doesn't change the game. AWS has completely changed the game. The only thing I could think of Google doing to be on the same level, is opening up a search api (even at a cost).

Look at someone like Garry Tan of Posterous, he can design and code, and for that he is significantly more desirable than a large portion of designers. I would not call it bullshit.

They don't help you with visa stuff, you need to do it on your own. An H1B holder can work for his or her own company now, but you need lots of money (~400-500K) and need to pay a real salary (60K ish for a software engineer). The H1B is no

You don't need to write tornado in an async fashion. You can use it like you would Flask, but its got a more similar feel to web.py than Flask.

Tornado has a very similar feel to web.py, yet can do much more when you are ready for it. If you like web.py you might as well use tornado.

You basically need 400K to 500K investment and need to be paid at least 60K in NYC. I've spoken with a well known startup immigration lawyer about it.
