So? I too can write made up criticism if that’s what my boss wants in the workplace — but that doesn’t suddenly invalidate my ability to criticize my own work to improve it.

Why wouldn’t you use LLMs to write even more open source? The cost of contributions falls dramatically, eg, $100 is 200M tokens of GPT-3.5; so you’re talking enough to spend 10,000 tokens developing each line of a 20kloc project (amortized)

You can usually even ask the same LLM: - do a task - criticize your job on that task - redo that task based on criticism I find giving the LLM a process greatly improves the results.

There’s scanners at 100+ pages per minute and you can fit a (half) dozen maxed out QRs per page. I’m okay with it taking a minute or two to install software on a high security system, eg, the root cryptography for our military radios. …mayb

I haven’t seen a company outsource a core competency and succeed, eg Boeing outsourcing airplane manufacturing.

Why not use “degradation of software services” when you want to be staid — and let everyone else use the term they want? Inventing jargon with the intention of being boring is just hiding the issue with euphemisms.

I don’t think monopolies are in-and-of-themselves entirely legal. Eg, if you have a monopoly on ads, you’re likely committing an offense. But the enforcement of that has varied substantially over time: strongest at the end of the Gilded Age

And now inserting every middleware is an exercise in retyping the system, rather than piggybacking on the parameter dict.

You also make a nightmare of dynamically adding middleware — which can piggyback on a generic dict and have no meaningful way to insert themselves into your type maze.

People enjoy the flexibility and many Python systems rely on duck-typing via dicts, etc. So people are trying to force Python to be something it isn’t in adherence to their ideology — but it fails to gain consensus because there’s a sizable

Right — but the question isn’t CD/DVD versus nothing. It’s CD/DVD versus USB; and which has a smaller attack surface. I’d argue that read-only CD/DVD has a smaller attack surface than USB, so of the two, it’s preferable. I’

You disagree — perhaps I’m wrong. But that you responded with rhetoric rather than pointing out where I’m wrong suggests you don’t have an answer to what would change the outcome. Not even his allies believe in the “Victory Plan” — and seve

Cauchy’s main work was under 200 years ago; and there’s been quite a lot of work since. Again, I’m unsure that calculus existed at sufficient level 200 years ago — it didn’t appear in modern form from either Leibniz or Newton.

I don’t think anybody serious questions the outcome of the Ukraine war — as evidenced by the international realignment caused by NATOs defeat, increases talk about Ukraine relinquishing ground, etc. What event do you believe could change th

What are you talking about? Kursk was stopped after small gains and prior to any major captures — with Ukraine losing their best units. That loss has led to cities along the line of battle being captured, including the fortress city of Vuhl

I’d argue the people born 1970-1990 are stronger at that than those born 1990-2000. I think you have the age range of people who wrote their own MySpace pages versus those in pre-structured gardens like Facebook slightly wrong.

I would comment to drop the preposition: “…only contend two things” I think the trouble in the phrase is that “contend” has an active sense to it whereas “on” creates a more passive tone. Your solution is to swap to a more passive phrasing,

Okay, but why does what you want matter? I find a lot of teams are so focused on their vision that they fail to integrate their tool into my workflow. So I don’t use them at all. That’s fine for art, but I don’t need opinionated tools.
