To a large extent, thinking beyond what is needed for processing sensory inputs, is same as being unhappy. Smart people, by definition, think more and naturally be unhappy. Just like how smart devices with more work to do, tend to be warmer

Why should articles like these always start with some fictional story like a novel? The actual news is buried somewhere half-way after the throw-away story.

Similar to the mapping of complex number plane with z = f(z'), that is, for a point in complex plane, new z is some function of current z for that point.

If we define happiness as cognition of some reality being better than expected, smartness can affect both expectations and results (realities) and the difference is not correlated to smartness. Sometimes, smartness can push up expectations

So, if the electricity gets cheaper the way information got cheaper, does it make our muscles and mind weaker due to lack of work and thought?

The only problem is, similarity with dotcom might only go thus far. For example, dotcom bubble itself might not have a similar thing in the past at that time. This is because the overall world context is different and interaction of social,

Laws by definition are capsules of power. Some laws give more power to government and some laws give power to some sections of people, such as gender-based or cast-based laws, renter-vs-landlord rules etc. Such laws are easy to be weaponize

I think you are talking about client's navigational state. The original title of this post was "app state ...". Still it is not clear about state of what. Navigational state need not be confused with app state. Also talking a

The way businesses or empires had success was by dancing to the tune of the time. The tune changes with time. The wind changes, tides change direction, the overall context changes. So it doesn't help to much to study what business have

You are either changing the meaning of "state", or probably unaware of what it means. To start with, state of what? app (http server) or the http client?

It's the state of your browser, not the app. App could be serving different pages to different clients at the same time.

An address book is not "state space". The country, land and things are the state.

Not quite. As the L in URL says, it is the locator or address of the state. The S in REST implies the same, indicating states as the content, not path to it.

Ah c2.com! What a nostalgia. I like how they changed page navigation to popups, instead of loading a new page. I always loved the minimalist theme of C2 content and it was my first wiki site to get me addicted. Slashdot was another.

"jugaad" is very close to what I stated - not worrying too much about privacy, as it doesn't have immediate material implications. "Karma" philosophy helps it by believing in destiny, instead of blaming one's o

It used to have some survival instincts. It was gobbling young companies such as whatapp and insta to keep itself alive. But with metaverse they lost the plot and now desperate to cling on to AI wave. Yep, this dino is gone.

Just my curiosity: Why are you producing so much code? Is it because it is now possible to do so with AI, or because you have a genuine need (solid business usecase) that requires a lot of code?

No. It is lack of reason. Not long ago, if you went for morning jog in a village, you might be stopped and asked - I don't see a dog chasing you, why are you running? Same, if you give away some useful thing for free.

In most cultures, smiling at someone means, you know them personally. So, when you smile at a stranger, the stranger gets confused. They might think you are crazy. Also it could make them uncomfortable about how to respond. If they smile ba

The need to sell, forces one to be as weird and vulgar as possible. Most books are selling focused. Selling has spoiled many art forms. The extreme antics you see on stage for a music show has nothing to do with music either.

This is turning out to be more wasteful than arms race. Companies are locked into a vicious spiral built by themselves. The only hope appears to be a bubble burst that wakes up investors.

From what I saw, there was no "alcohol" as you know it. Most peasant families consumed something called toddy that came from palm trees and date palms. It's a family drink and it's nowhere close to what you call as addic
