A little off topic, but what possibilities are there to rip out the guts of a "smart tv" and just use the display as a dump monitor? I love my Samsung display for its visuals, but the OS is terrible.

I'm a big fan of https://www.supernetworks.org for the flexibility it gives. The security focus is a bonus as well.

Is it possible to get good performance in computation when encoding the data this way, or is there a lot of cycles lost to packing and unpacking these bits?

Climate models take this into account [0], contrary to what some people here seem to imply. It is also very likely that this is part of, but not the major factor of recent warming. [1] I would like to point out that this is not something we

Note that this article interchangeably uses EU and Europe when referring to the European Union and its member countries. It might seem silly, but I think it bears repeating that not all countries in Europe are part of the European union.

True, we did not have full lock downs. However there were multiple restrictions in place through various phases of the pandemic. Restaurants/bars/clubs closed at 8 pm as opposed to being open to 1 am/ 3am. Max 4 people at a t

Exactly the same experience as me. I got pretty deeply involved in the digital evolution community. Great way to spend my teenage years, and a great foundation to have while programming in any language. :)

I like this article on the subject. It examines many of the possible reasons given by others in these comments. https://slatestarcodex.com/2019/02/25/wage-stagnation-much-m...

Maybe the tracking of hands for the controls do not work outside. At least with the kinect, the IR projection that it depends on to map the 3d space will not work well (or at all) in direct sunlight. When I was working with robotics that ha

That article is biased and full of exaggerations (and possibly also outright errors). I live inside the city in Stockholm and have lived both in a suburb and a small town in another part of Sweden in my life. No one I've met spend much
