It's not--the article is missing important aspects of tax such as deductions/exemptions and other forms of tax paid.

I like their idea for height restriction as well--allowing a story higher than those buildings around it.

The point is that it is generally easier for an engineer to learn business skills than a non-technical background person to learn engineering.

VLC is an amazing tool. I almost wish it was the embedded video player for Chrome or Firefox. It would be nice to play more formats of video on the web and VLC does an amazing job supporting other formats. Also, there is no way to play RTSP

I agree with you on the first point but not sure I understand the second. People had to pay to build or buy the property. For example, my uncle built a 12 unit apartment building. He paid the mortgage on it, maintained it, and took care of

The housing shortage is not a shortage overall. It is a shortage in areas where people want to live.

I think it may be in part because UI is very transient. Trends come and go very quickly. Well-made libraries can last a very very long time though as programs that work well are always in fashion.

Except in practice people can't find affordable places with rent control because nobody is willing to leave their below market rate place. The real problem with it though is that it does not in any way fix the root cause of the problem

As a counterpoint I have a 2011 Silverado that has never had an issue. I've had to replace normal wear/tear items over the course of 125k miles but that is it. The build quality on Ford/Chevy/Dodge/Toyota is all pre

I've been thinking about this for awhile and I think the problem is roads. People will go wherever the roads are good. They will build houses everywhere and subdivide everything a million times. However, if there is no way to access a

Except the government does even need to do that. The government could actually make money by leasing spaces/taking a cut of revenue to put chargers and letting private industry install them and manage them.

I agree that it is not a silver bullet. However it does account for a large portion of car down time and would be a useful place for chargers. Maybe it would work if they were pay chargers as well?

Somehow people figured out how to make gasoline fueling infrastructure, which is amazing in itself. Extracting fuel out of the ground, transporting to refinery, transporting to destination holes scattered nearly everywhere around the world

What if workplaces add chargers as a benefit? I've seen several do it near me. People then just plug their car in at work.

Congress wants to fund the military, especially when their are bases in their own state. That means lots of dollars taken from elsewhere in the country and spent in their state.

I think the US military budget could be cut and still retain most of the capability. Ask a general which bases to cut and they will tell you stateside bases that are in expensive areas. The most useful bases are the ones that are overseas.

This is very much not true. There are good cases for both. John Skeet, who knows more about this topic than anybody I can think of, wrote a blog post that explained it well: https://codeblog.jonskeet.uk/2019/03/27&
