I understand that it is frustrating to hear somebody telling you that they lack confidence in your tool simply because it «lacks a webpage», maybe after you have spent so much time creating and polishing it! However, considering the huge am

However, in principle there should be a (perhaps very small?) component due to the inner magnetic momentum of neutrons [1], right? After all, they are made of quarks, which have nonzero charge. [1] https://en.wikipedia.org/w

Yeah, you are right, these limitations are not much of a matter of the language itself.

NumPy is not a good comparison, because Julia can produce faster code which takes less memory [1]. The Python library that is closest to Julia's spirit is Numba [2], and in fact I was able to learn Numba in a few hours thanks to my pre

I am using Julia extensively since 2013, and I can say that it's awesome! But don't try to use it if you're looking for a general-purpose scripting language: Python is far better suited for this. Similarly, if you want to pro

Yes, being a high-speed particle particle you should use relativistic momentum to describe the hit, but the idea is the same.

The big problem with near-light speed travel like the one suggested by Lubin is the potentially fatal interaction of the spacecraft with interstellar dust. Even considering their faint density, the long journey would make the spacecraft int

When using the Julia REPL I regularly use KittyTerminalImages [1], which is awesome because it fits perfectly with other plotting packages. [1] https://github.com/simonschoelly/KittyTerminalImages.jl

Sometimes I still use WordPerfect 6 for DOS for writing text. It's insanely fast and, as other have said, the «reveal codes» feature is awesome. Unfortunately, its equation editor is far more cumbersome than plain LaTeX for writing equ

I agree with this suggestion: Lazarus is a great choice if you need to develop a GUI program.

Some time ago I looked for these data but was not able to find a «sound» source, apart from organizations promoting/fighting euthanasia. Do you have links to some objective sources? I would love to have a look at them.

I agree. After having tried several other players (Amarok, Banshee, Rhythmbox...) I have settled on Audacious. It's quick to start, plays every format I need, and is not as invasive as other bigger programs.

Well, I believe that the biggest problem is that there are very little incentives in doing that. Everybody (your university, the Government, the funding agencies...) rushes you to publish as many papers as possible, get zillions of citation

It has been a long time since I tried MATE. Do you mean that the file dialog does not implement recursive search? If it is so, then I must consider switching! (At the moment I am using Xfce.)

I have found a (cumbersome) solution to this using Xfce. Its Thunar file manager does implement type-ahead, so whenever I need to open a file that is saved in some deeply-nested folder, I open Thunar (using a custom shortcut, Ctrl+Alt+E)

Sure, but once a platform is read by billions of people and is influencing what they think, I believe it is reasonable that people discuss about the opportunity to regulate this kind of stuff.

This was more or less my experience. My old HP laserjet (P1005) was a crap: it required to be connected to a computer through the USB cable every time it was turned on, so that the 500MB HP Windows driver could be able to upload the firmwar
