Iteration will be slower than Arraylist. Just like LinkedList (which is even worse), there will be cache misses on jumps to new nodes. Random access lookup will be (very slightly) slower as you determine which node to look inside. This is h

ClickRouter - because it allows me to use all my affiliate accounts (CJ, Skimlinks, Viglinks, shareasale, etc) at once. This has nearly doubled my affiliate revenue. At first it was an internal tool I ran for a long time, but been working t

Pretty well summed up by other comments, but loss of ROI. Funny enough one of my last blog posts was the most response I've ever gotten (few hundred K readers, tweeted by O'Reilly, liked by Zuck) but it still felt "not worth

This trend has been clear for awhile. Interestingly, this will put performance pressure back on programming and languages as they become the "new" bottleneck. I'd expect an implicit migration away from slower languages toward

I'm in agreement with the first few comments already - at least some parts of this advice is dubious. For one - some performance examples (specifically, integer array iteration) is 15 times slower with streams. Angelika Langer's a

This is a commoditization problem. Games became very easy to write. Go-to market became very easy to do with game selling platforms (i.e. appstore, steam). Match that with most "game players" would love to be "game developers

Storage and VPS systems are becoming (have become) commodity so quickly. It will be interesting to see if this has any effect on open-source Saas businesses. I.e. "We'll host it for you or you can host it yourself for free" -

Wow. Do my daily HN scan for the day and find an article you wrote ~4 years at #1. I hadn't read that in many years, and what fun to do a re-read. Thanks Internet - don't stop being you.
