It is very easy. Why do so many people torture themselves with complex setups? Masochism?

You'd have to be utterly incompetent to make a self-configured VPS have more attack surface. I have a FreeBSD server, three open ports: SSH with cert-login only, and http/https that go to nginx. No extra ports or pages for potenti

Yes, it is ludicrous. My company uses hosted databases and "droplets" from DigitalOcean. Their pricing is absolutely absurd. I always wondered how they stay in business, but now I know.

There are lots of farms where animals are treated well and with dignity. At least over here in Switzerland. Source: worked at one, and saw a lot of them (my father worked as a vet).

Hyprland is nice, but goddamn is it a PITA to package. I wish they'd stop being that extremely bleeding-edge with the stuff they depend on.

Same reason why most really neat things aren't. The people who are good at crafting neat things are bad at creating hype for it. Meanwhile, the bullshit bingo bros come up with convoluted, marketable stuff and manage to generate hype.

Basically: autossh -M 20000 -N -R host:8080:localhost:80 user@host -M sets the control port for autossh which it uses to check if all is working right. The rest is standard SSH syntax; in this example, a loopback socket on port 8080 on host

digiKam might have this or similar, or there might be a plugin for it. It's gotten so many features that I hardly know what's going on anymore.

The "business value" is that it is easier and cheaper to find a handful of scriptkiddies who think everything has to be done in JS, run after the latest hype, and don't even know you can send a form using plain HTML, than it

It usually requires less time, not more, to create a slim and efficient page.

What complexity? Sending an email using git instead of having to create an account and open a merge request using a web app?
