SVN branching as I remember it requires a round-trip to the server, so that could be why it took so long for some people, if their server was far away.

Look, we have spent the last ~ 20 years across HN and conferences and what not trying to teach git to people with basically nothing to show for it. Most developers still can't do much more than occasionally commit stuff. They still rm

I agree, IF you change the perspective, so it's keep Europe able to fly stuff into space as needed, then Ariane 5 is a great program. It's just not true that it's cheap at launching stuff into space, it's not true that i

If the sentence replaces Europe with "is the" it would read "Ariane 5 is the most successful launch system to date" That's not remotely true, see Falcon 9 for example. 282 successful missions so far and they are now

On the stock exchanges in the USA, they do that because we didn't use to and trading bots that were mis-configured went nuts and broke the markets for a while. Now they stop trading for (15?) minutes to let everyone make sure it's

Unfortunately as often is the case, the important moments that matter somehow forget to be recorded. It's pretty rare that we see the cops being recorded breaking the law on their own body cameras, despite those body cameras supposedly

Since October, Israel has launched at least 7,400 into Gaza. Between June 1944 and March 1945 the Germans hurled 10,500 V-1s at Great Britain. Most of the missiles never reached their targets. I couldn't easily find the # of rockets fr

A K-1, "Fiance Visa" I'm pretty sure requires the marriage to happen inside the US. At least that's how the immigration people explained it to us, and their website, while not saying it outright at least implies it: >

Only if they pursue a Fiance Visa, which is(last I checked) usually the best way for the non-USA citizen to get their green card. A Fiance visa requires the marriage happen in the USA(after receiving the VISA).

If you do anything where security might be a concern(like getting those 2fa SMS messages) you almost certainly want to upgrade to something that can still get security updates. Phones 10 yrs old will have so many security holes it's no

UPRO[0] is highly leveraged(3x), and regularly loses money. It's down over 14% this month alone. It's a 3rd party taking your money and doing incredibly risky things with it. I don't think you are trying to argue UPRO can

You actually can do most(all?) of this in Fossil, it just puts a big frowny face next to it, and highly encourages you to not change history, for hopefully obvious reasons. Some of us think actual history is more important than a persons id

I don't understand how comparing it to the Fed's balance sheet makes any sense whatsoever. The Federal Reserve can literally invent real USD money, they can make their balance sheet whatever they want, whenever they want.
