Repeating what I wrote in the other HN thread: Wouldn't a 4-word system be much easier to implement, be reversible and probably avoid their patent?

But why 3 words? Why not 4? Here is crazy idea: take the standard long/lat system and trim it down to numbers that can point to any 20m2 square in the world. Now translate each number to two words. Now you have a much simpler 4-word s

Wait, why is this a controversial stand? Is it really that bad to not wanting a random torch app to not use all your monthly data on God knows what?

This is a simple but wonderful idea! Hope more vendors follow. Google changing permission model to allow any app internet access was the stupidest decision made by a company in this millennium

I looked at the paper but it was way over my head. Can anyone explain it in simpler terms to a person who barely understands attention models and has no idea what associative memory means here?

Well, Apple has created a bunch of rules to address #1. For example, you cannot sell the same goods outside the store with a 30% discount.

Should add, the ruling is not really about the validity of the 30% fee. What EU seems to argue is this: 1. Apple is in phone business, Spotify music. So far so good... 2. Then apple wants to get into the music business too. Now they have a

Unpopular opinion: This was a no brainer. Apple wanted 30% (or was it less for subscriptions?) on any business that used apps, no matter if they used apple infrastructure or not. Just think about it: one company is in practice entitled to

Even if that was true, remember that UK had for years been the main cause of fights within EU. The British approach to making a deal was "this is a disaster, we should have be given at least twice that". After 30 years of that,

I have 4 issues with your comment: 1. AMD and apple use different methods for measuring effect. So AMD 35W and apples 18W are not directly comparable. 2. Despite what HN top posts want you to believe newset Zen3 has a performance advantage

I think the current batches are mostly reserved for pre-builts at big vendors (dell, hp, lenovo). Had no problem ordering machines with fairly new CPU from HP with 4-5 days delivery. GPU is a whole different story...

You have been able to but Zen 3 laptops for a good while now. Not sure about desktop CPUs thought. But that's mostly because of apple reserving TSMC entire 5nm line, so AMD is still on 7nm (although they look extremely promising even

Just try random project from github without using nightly, alternatively try a project from 2018 with a current rustc. Specially the debian/Ubuntu Rust packages have hard time compiling many recent projects.

Flutter looks great on paper, but is a pain to use in real projects unless your app 90% overlaps with one of the included samples. Also, it's Google. You never know if it will be around next year which means using it in production is
