Actually, I tried arch again last month after unfa's video on pipewire support. Couldn't even revert back to PA when PW failed, the entire system had to be reinstalled. Can you make it work? Absolutely. Can it fail catastrophical

If using Ubuntu is "living in the console" for you, then something is seriously wrong with how you use it. I mean, you sure _can_ do it. But that's not what you are supposed to do.

I don't get why people go from osx to arch. Why not something that just works, and updating is not Russian roulette?

That exists already, for example github does it automatically for you. However, that is dependent on first finding and flagging issues, which is exactly what this post is about.

You can (could ?) buy these refurbished dirt cheap when big companies update their fleet. There is a huge modding community, but you don't really need to go that route if all you want is a reliable laptop. Although you might need to ch

Does anyone know what type of development they do at redhat? I assume you need really good people for things like kernel development but IBM-style enterprise development is a different story.

Unity is slow on any machine. With that said, there is a huge M1 hype on HN. It reminds me of the 64-bit ARM hype when someone benchmaked encryption (because ARMv8 has AES instructions) and everyone were made to belive that the new iPhone w

Any idea if this can be used with Jupyter? I have a bunch of notebooks that take 4-8 hours to run. This could potentially make my life much easier.

If you follow r/antiwork on Reddit, the general trend seems to be people realising they have been put into a hamster wheel with crappy pay and no real future. Maybe some of that is due covid making people revaluate their lives, who kno

Why is this so important to you that you spend money on it? Do you feel it helps your carrier if you have a highly cited paper?

I think kicad 5 was meant to fix the library mess while kicad 6 is supposed to focus on UX. It was sold to me as "what blender did last time", which is music to my ears.

I have manufactured a lot of boards with kicad, and have used the auto router exactly once. You can still use the old auto router, you just have to do it manually (export, route, import).

The problem is that when you are renting from Hertz you are probably new to the area and don't know where you are going and if there are any charging stations nearby.

I am surprise this didn't install. But I'm not sure it would work in recent android versions anyway thanks to all security. Well, unless he is going to MITM termux applications.

How hard can this be? All I've heard from operators is that it is "very easy" to fake caller ID. Well, maybe it's easy because you are not doing your job, mate?

I used to like the game (not really the original game, the first xbox game). But after reading the developers book where he seemed to hate all other platforms and called Another World a PoP rip off, I am no longer a fan.

Just don't forget that it goes both ways. GNU today's is much more relevant than GNU 30 years ago thanks to the Linux community. Would not surprise me if 80% of recent GNU contributions come from the Linux crowd.
