Great execution, but in terms of the market this strikes me as being 3 degrees separated from profit: Tweetvite -> Tweetup -> Twitter -> Profit!

This example has been beaten to death. Google was at least an order of magnitude better than other search engines, and was the first that actually worked , so it didn't matter how crowded the space was. When evaluating an opportunity, "___

I agree with the author's thesis but I'm bothered by the way the numbers are presented. Other articles in favor of making immigration for skilled workers easier usually are guilty of the same number fudging. In the article: "My research tea

The big problem is that the the chip industry's market is shrinking in the long-term. As hardware has gotten faster ('fast enough'), the need for custom hardware solutions has reduced, since you can more easily and cheaply do things in so

A better term for what Zoho does is "offshoring". Outsourcing and offshoring are orthogonal. It's only when the two go together that you get sweatshops.

The default search in Safari is also through Google. And to be fair, Maps+Youtube are more significant apps than Weather+Stocks in terms of usage and complexity (should be easy to swap out the Yahoo sources for some other ones).

There's probably been a change in mindset at Apple over the last 2 years, from seeing Google more as a partner to seeing it more as a competitor. Unless something from Google (like Search/Maps/Youtube) is obviously of big value to most iPho

Sorry to hear about the shutdown. FWIW, I'm impressed how open you're being, about profitability as well as money-raised ( http://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=777010 ). Btw, apparently you have a decent amount of traffic ( http://siteanalyt

This is the bigger than Youtube, YC-mafia, etc. trying to put the nail in the IE6 coffin. IE6 is big in enterprises, and Microsoft has incredibly strong relationships with them. Plus office.com would actually be seen as an important product

Your link has "Kundra holds an undergraduate degree from UM in psychology and a master's of science in information technology." Which actually doesn't indicate that the MS in IT was from UM, and hence doesn't clash with Dvorak's post. Edit:
