The S&P500 is surprisingly diversified, simply because most of the companies are large enough to operate globally.

Yeah, is the thing that catches people up about compound interest. The original poster's argument (and math) makes sense if they wait 30 years (17K return), which is still a long time. However, waiting another ten years gives them ~40

John Bogle was from the silent generation, while the get rich quick mantra is more of a boomer and Gen-x stereotype.

When ex-zoomer boomers tell zoomers to act more like ex-zoomer boomers, and not zoomer boomers, there's probably a good reason for it (at least when it comes to money).

I was a (young) kid when I overheard a news report making fun of an internet bookstore calling itself Amazon. It's amazing what he's been able to do. Good for him.

Look at purchasing used enterprise hardware. You can buy a reliable x9 or X10 generation supermicro server (rack or tower) for around a couple of hundred.

I generally stay out of speculation and fear mongering, but the fact that your comment has been repeatedly - and quickly - downvoted worries me. The CEO of a $600B global publicly traded company disappeared for several months. This does not

It's extremely unlikely that the founder and CEO of a $600B publicly traded company would completely disappear for several months on his own initiative. A short interview or a couple of emails would have dispelled all speculation that

All of these arguments also apply to precious metals and gemstones. Gold, for instance, is extremely energy intensive/wasteful to mine, heavily tracked, and (until recently) had little utilitarian/industrial value outside of jewel

5% is more or less the long term average mortgage rate. Owners generally keep a mortgage on their property (~65% of the property value) to off-set wealth and property taxes. Residences are taxed by their estimated rental values, which is tr

From what I've seen, prices have been static and have even started to fall in some areas. There are a lot of people staring down a refinance on a 5 or 10 year interest-only loan in the middle of a recession. I haven't looked it up

Why? Europe already produces EUV lithography machines, and while I'm not that familiar with the field, I'm pretty sure ASML and TSMC are already working on 2nm lithography.

The funding is only for two years, and it looks like this is an extension to an initiative that started in 2018. I don't think they expect to build a 2nm fab by 2023.

From a quick look at what's been published so far, they appear to be very effective if they have a high enough adoption rate and if people self quarantine after contact. This is ancedotal, but the benefit of having a live person, worki

Average salary in Shenzhen (2019) was 127K yuan, or about $18K usd. Average salary (manufacturing) in the US is about $30K usd. I'm sure that after you adjust for cost of living, the numbers more or less look equal. However, keep in mi
