To put it into perspective, for someone making $200k+/yr (a lot of the HN audience), $10 is about 6min of their time/month (assuming a 40hr work week). Over a year it adds up to 72min of time. On the other hand, researching and tr

To the OP, I’m just curious what was the problem you were facing that inspired this project? I haven’t run into a scenario where I would use something like this before

I might be in the minority, but I think using variables of equal lengths with opposite meanings is an anti-pattern. I like using clearly different words (diff lengths, diff starting characters) that still pair well together. IMO this makes

Interesting! My experience was a little different. I've never taken a formal graphics course, and was struggling with understanding shaders while self-teaching myself graphics programming. For me, I couldn't really understand what

Maybe I'm weird, but I kinda prefer the original "short list of facts". In general I prefer email to be short and direct.

Sorry if this is a dumb question (don’t know much about Lua), but have you tried installing LuaSqlite with luarocks? It it works like pip for python, I think that `luarocks install lsqlite3` might be enough to start using it.

What language are you using? SQLite has been well supported in most of the ones I’ve used. It also has a pretty straightforward C API, so it might not be too hard to build bindings yourself if they don’t exist

Linear algebra is really important for graphics programming, but there's really only a handful of concepts you need to get started (vectors, matrix operations (rotation, translation, scale)). This course is relatively short and should

Great point. This would give Google's advertising services an unfair advantage over its competitors. This really only seems beneficial to Google, not to other advertisers, or to end-users.

This just sounds like Google is building an API for browser fingerprinting. Advertisers send Google data, and get back a fingerprint of a user. This is only "privacy friendly" because Google limits the accuracy of the fingerprint

Not even remotely an ML expert. Just some ideas I had: Speech recognition + basic NLP for automatic customer support triage. None of these are great to use as a customer, but they seem to be effective enough to continue using and save compa

I'm more interested in the general problem of building those interconnected services, figuring out how to verify correctness, and scaling them to service the traffic they get. I think consensus might be a part of that (maybe for garbag

I think in some cases they do. Python3’s parser can detect when people use the old print syntax for example.
