After a separation from my long term girlfriend, I started playing Tennis. I love it. Spent a few bucks on a coach. Best decision ever. If you are not self disciplined enough, get someone who motivates you.

I hate the direction they are taking Windows. The OS is supposed to be a workhorse, but MS nowadays only sees it as a way to shove ads and spyware down our throat.

Golang/Java/C++/Javascript developer here. We do look down our collective nose. I've tried to get into Erlang and I'm a big fan of Joe Armstrong. Erlang incorporates great ideas, but using it for a project seems a b

To me, Delphi has always been the best tool for desktop development. And I've tried them all. Win32, MFC, Winforms, WPF, Qt, Gtk, WxWidgets, Fltk, Swing, JavaFX, Flutter, React, Angular, Svelte, Solid... But desktop development is dead

Another european developer here. Europe is a contintent full of old boring people and the IT sector is solid, but rather unexciting. You want to be where the action and the excitement is. Do yourself a favour and study in the States.

Delphi/Object Pascal was my favorite programming environment for a long time. PL/SQL is Ada though.

That's why I'm still hoping on Flutter or something similar for actual web applications. But it's been a long time in the making, I'm not quite convinced it will ever be able to replace the more traditional stuff.

Delphi was even better. Great IDE, great language, compiled executables. Too bad that paradigm didn't survive the web.

C looks like a toy language too, when compared to C++. And yet some of the best software in the world is written in it. So yes, Go has its drawbacks. But it is easy to get things done with it.

As software developers, we are often living in our own bubble. As a pilot and developer working on an aviation solution, I quite often run into this issue when discussing solutions with my colleagues.

I also did my IFR in the 90ies on steam gauges. Our ADFs didn't even have the rotating dial, so you had to keep them synchronized with the direction indicator manually. What a pain. Moving maps in the cockpit must be the greatest safet

I became a pilot at age 20, got all my ratings up to a frozen ATPL, worked as a flight instructor, gave up my airline ambitions due to deteriorating eyesight, became a software developer, worked on other stuff for 20 years, rekindled my int

Well, the real problem is that people are not writing native Windows applications anymore, that's what Delphi was good at. And Embarcadero also priced themselves out of the market, they should have had a long hard look at Jetbrains and
