No, those aren't real people. However some faces generated by an AI may look like people in real life. It's almost impossible to always generate totally unique faces. Unfortunately, I'm not familiar with that API.

I think they want to get rid from older hardware thus making the OS more light without need to include a lot of old drivers stuff. So maybe it's a good sign. You can always use Ubuntu with your old hardware.
