A few decades ago implies 1990s or early 2000s. In 1990 he was 7 years old. In early 2000 - 17 years old.

Fast. Very fast. Good configuration and theming options too. Literally no lag, even with thousands of lines scrollback. It doesn't get in your way on your day to day terminal activities. Feels natural.

I use ghostty daily now. Switched recently. In macOS I can re-map now caps lock to be cmd and it works for cmd+c. Everything else is great, sensible defaults and what's not easily customizable. Gruvbox light theme looks great too. The

Delphi is still great, even though the usage declined and not many people, especially newcomers know about it (or C++ Builder). It is still probably the best drag and drop experience for UI components, with Qt Creator being a runner up. A b

Lol, yeah, most of the times on the server we have more perms than IT assigns on our laptops. I am not in that environment anymore, but in banking was very much the case. I want the dotnet run to work out, that means I could start using C#

Your choices are modern. Not sure what the person arguing exactly about, but new C# is as modern as it can be, and .ts is pretty damn modern as well. Same for deno in 2025. In fact, in 2025 I tested same setup for better scripts: deno+ts. I

Love Helix. Congrats. Good looking default theme. Sensible defaults. Literally install and use, no configuration needed. Well I haven't replaced my IDE with it , but set alias of vi to it and made it as $EDITOR for all quick cli edits.

Just read it! I stopped using as my desktop around 2007, but worked with it till 2009, while using mac as desktop. Then did 5 years of AIX and a bit of Solaris. Afterwards, was just Linux. These days my desktop is boring, w11+wsl. Congrats

I remember we were on the same forums with @vermaden about 23 years ago or so. I used FreeBSD actively at the time as my desktop OS(4.5 as I remember). Kudos to you, you kept using it! I just occasionally install it from time to time, to ch

If we wanted speed compile times only, we'd be using Pascal. No need for Go. In fact, if there would be ever a case for me to use Go, I'd rather go for Pascal or Delphi. But there isn't, it just doesn't fit anywhere.

I just tried Cursor, which is based on vscode. And I couldn't stand it, back to JetBrains in a week. Everything, just everything is inferior. Starting with Git plugins, search etc. So yes, learn the ide, just use JetBrains.
