I don’t drink ‘almond beverage’ but given the amount of uses it has substituting milk (and the amount of people that accept them) it seems like a very relevant comparison. Maybe I’m not sofisticated enough but I’m yet to see a candy corn ml

Maybe I wasn't clear but when I commented, I meant to say you could buy and have installed 6 mini-splits for $3000 (machines included).

It’s very normal here in Portugal. If you looked carefully and weren’t picky about the brands, you could have 6 mini-splits installed for $3000 all-in.

This has not been my experience with dentistry. If anything they advise against alcohol-based mouthwashes etc.

The idea that we should purposefully keep places worse to live in so the rents stay cheaper is… what it is I guess. I can empathize but I can’t accept it. Improve everything.

Counterpoint: I've been semi-retired for almost 10 years. No money pressure. I spend most of my days on light hobbies and a few hours of work on a hobby business. I still feel like the years are going extremely quickly. I think our bra

Have you stumbled on The Power of Full Engagement by Jim Loehr[1][2]? It crystallises this idea well, divides energy into several different dimensions and tries to give you a framework to figure out which dimension is constraining you and h

I agree but cynicism makes me think it’s a beta, not a flex. Shipping half your next flagship phone to learn about manufacturing, durability etc etc in the real world is kind of genius.

I would say that’s still being optimistic. The end will come when Baidu, Facebook and Microsoft’s AI engage in total war against each other for survival while we watch in horror and incomprehension. The elites are just as fucked as anyone e

Better yet is to book a plane ticket. I haven’t been in China since ~2015 and already back then it felt inevitably advanced. I’m hoping to go back soon to see the future.

It’s interesting to me that trying to optimise AI tools is leading many engineers to discover the value in good communication and expectation setting. The diva/autist stereotype of 10x programmers is due for a review.

FYI CabinZero has essentially the same design philosophy and you can often find their 44l backpack for $50: http://cabinzero.com I've mine daily for 5-10 years, they're great.

How good! Have you tried isometrics at ~30-50% of maximum exhertion instead of stretching? Seems to be about the right dose to promote tendon repair. 3 months to a year will do ya. (Full protocol if you haven’t seen it is a ~30 second isome

Have you happened upon Keith Barr’s work on tendon repair? Up to a few years ago tendon injuries were thought to be mostly unfixable (you could strengthen what was left of an injured tendon at best) but Barr’s work is proving otherwise. And

Cut carbon emissions to zero tomorrow and we’re still in a great deal of trouble. Earth is a lagging system and the damage has been done 10 times over. I don’t blame anyone for looking at radical solutions. We’re not putting out the fire by

Fair and I'll run with it. Where I live (Lisbon) it's very very easy to get to unprotected highways with no fences. No trouble at all, maybe a 15-minute walk from my home. No epidemic of kids being run over. We still fence them, w

Like with anything, you need to do a proper job educating your kids before trusting safeguards to keep them safe. That would be my bet for a scalable solution. Some kids will still drown, it’s unavoidable. But swimming lessons are much more

Of course there is! Vernacular architecture has been doing this for millenia, all the way to caves. Take a plain partition wall. If you build it architecturally, it’ll be optimized. Likely out of metal/timber and sheetrock, or bricks.

I'm sorry you've been dealt a bad hand but please don't make it worse by risking other people's lives. You're not fit to drive, period. Your circumstances don't excuse this behaviour outside of an emergency.
