I might be worth giving it a chance. Being paid to learn new technology is a pretty good deal. If you still find you don't like it, then move.

> It's served me well to have at least one interview per year with a different company That sounds like really good advice: finding out what's out there, getting interview experience and stopping that "fear of change"

Did they consider that it might not be the alcohol itself, but correlation with behaviour? People who come home from work and have a drink or two are much less likely to do something that keeps their brain active.

If you read, understood and remembered all of those you'd be way beyond just proficient in C++.

A lot of embedded work uses C++ IME. There seems to be a reasonable demand for it from the job adverts I see.

That always annoys me. Instead of getting a link to the official documentation, I get 5 links to vaguely related StackOverflow questions, the most useful answer of which contains the link to the documentation .

I was being facetious, but actually with similar sized projects loaded XCode is at ~300MB and Atom is ~500MB.

That's why most people stopped inserting the extra spaces themselves, instead allowing the layout engine/word processor etc to do it for them.

I know, it's not like huge numbers of people view web pages on low-powered devices with limited battery life connected via an unreliable, metered wireless internet connection.

How do taxes work out in Denmark? I tried to work out how it would compare to the UK, but it seems significantly more complex to work out. I _think_ an average programmer on £50-60k would end up paying about 35-40% of their income in tax? O

Users could just keep their existing iPhone and switch to a cheaper SIM-only contract, of course. I'd be interested to know how much of the iPhone upgrade market is replacements for smashed/water damaged phones.

I felt the same about my Lumia 630. I broke the screen and ended up switching to some HTC abomination because I needed Android, but the 640 was cheap, smooth, fast, well ahead of its time in mobile UI and it was actually pleasant to use. I

Is the situation described for the woman in the article common? It sounds completely insane, I don't see how anyone could defend it. Minimum wage is $7.25, so at a guess say $20k/yr net? $800/month insurance is $9,600, nearly

The NHS in the UK seems to cost about $3,000/year/person. Admittedly, that probably needs to go up by $500-$1000 to provide a better service, but that seems to be comparable to federal spending in the US already?
