Is there good explanation anywhere of the syntax of those files? I tried getting into nix multiple times and was always put off by the lack of understandability of this.

I think there is a difference between documentation for yourself(and your team) and others. I think documentation for others (your users) is still needed, but I rarely write documentation for myself or my team.

The NPM team also wrote something last year about their internal use of RFCs: http://blog.npmjs.org/post/153881413635/some-notes-on-rfcs

No VCS? Let me guess, they write their business logic as stored procedures for databases.

I always use double accounting from finances to explain tests. You don't do logic changes in one places, but in a second to double check it actually works out.

I think the text works fine for any kind of server software. As he discussed, feature flags also work for downloadable software (desktop/mobile) - the multiple deployments obviously don't make that much sense in that case though.

I was most surprised by the linked research ethics - http://jepsen.io/ethics.html I think this is a resonable approach to getting funding but also being open/transparent about it.

Only a bit IMHO. You copy the design of GitHub and place your own content inbetween. IMHO it should be visually separate, but thats my thinking ;)

Maybe move all github fake-stuff below your own information and add a clear visible separator? I was confused at first too, but "got it" pretty quickly.
