We'll be talking more about this in the future. For now it's mostly in prototype/draft form, but we have confirmed that it is supported.

There's no changes required by publishers (users implementing Disqus). It works with the same embed code as before.

Well it would work just fine, but you'd always end up requiring the external dependency even if you didn't need to. For example, let's say there was a new urllib released (its still called urllib). It's now version 2.0, but the stdlib versi

This happens in every language. I dont think it's that big of a deal. In all honesty, you could continue to maintain a package outside of stdlib, and just require a newer version (which gets installed via the standard packaging tools). This

This is easily solved in Postgres. You dont do alters with default, or non null values. Alters become fast [enough] and bearable, even at scale. http://justcramer.com/2011/11/10/scaling-schema-changes/

Thats exactly what I was talking about. Why would you even consider replacing the test client? What value could it possibly bring? There's no need to test the HTTP lifecycle when you're performing simple "heres the data for my view, execute

I think requests and werkzeug are great, but I'm not entirely sure what problems this proposal addresses. First, it will be extremely hard to get Django to replace a large chunk of it's core with an external library. Not only because they d

To be honest, I'd prefer maintaining a single JS redirect on the main page, rather than many server-side regular expressions trying to redirect to appropriate pages.

We sample data from the entire network of Disqus (which is over a million sites). I may be wrong (as I'm not on the marketing side of things), but I believe when we're saying pseudonym we're saying "not Facebook". Things that let you choose

Ah ok that's what I figured. We do a lot of the same things right now with various DBs (we just describe it as pre-sharding so we can avoid the actual re-sharding dilemma). We've had to do this with both PostgreSQL and Redis now. The schema

Ah so you don't actually have 1000 (or whatever) schemas set up right off the bat? Or I might be misunderstanding, and you're saying that you're just mapping which physical server has the schemas

What I'd be more curious to hear about, is how they deal with super nodes and if they're storing a map (or any kind of routing table) or simply using generic modulo hashing on a key.

Django works just fine. If you want to build your own framework (e.g. use Bottle) then go for it. Waste [Invest?] the time while the rest of us are busy getting things done. I don't think that you can compare ANY Python framework (or any fr

Pretty cool idea. I totally welcome more competition with djangopackages. The problem with things like PyPi is the lack of anyone willing to step up with a better product and force improvement in the community. The one thing that's confusin

Try using Facebook Comments as a large publisher. There's quite a few powerful tools that we (Disqus) provide that Facebook hasn't yet. Granted, they might in the future, but commenting is our sole product right now, and you can bet we'll d

We constantly address performance issues and it is our top priority. On that note, yes, it can take a bit longer to load than embedded comments (server-side), but they load asynchronously so your content isnt waiting on your comments.
