The problem there is that that's a well understood threat model, mitigated with (unqualified) manpower. Responding to drones requires a more technical solution which might not be realistic to deploy en masse.

I believe you are very much mistaken. The risk/reward profile of both acts are wildly different: the chances of getting caught while operating a honeypot AP in a public environment are vanishingly small, not so with running around bran

Nothing "natural" would sustain 7b+ people anyway, so what's your point against "sustainable" as a reasonable (and considerable) improvement?

> strings as iterables of single character While it makes sense to think of them as sequences, this has bitten me more than I care to admit. OT: Is there a name for things we love to complain about, but wouldn't change?

That's originally Oscar Wilde “Everything in moderation, including moderation.”

Could you please expand on your point ? I understand that security by obscurity is not optimal, but I don't see a good reason not to switch ports.

There's a widespread sentiment that current evidence of compliance to "doing right by users" should be viewed with circumspection. And it's fair to say Google's past behaviour raises doubts about the level of trust

Maybe that is the point. We need services not products, and maybe limiting the viability of traditional centralised (risk, data, prestation) products could allow a new category of distributed (risk, data,...) services to fill in the need.

You should do a post about your comment's first 4 paragraphs, something we can point our "almost there" non-geek friends to.

The meaning can be close to idolatry, which furthers the notion of love-like declarations as parasitic in western semantics.

I've seen long time friends F each other for all they own or to gain favours in the greater political hierarchies. It's savage once you get to a certain point in terms of resources or logistics.

Yeah the cartels are really really powerful. The political landscape is actually "the game" for many pilots. Many smaller orgs long for further reductions of the meat-factory alliances. But you can't compete with economies of

I have one as well. For reference I'm happy with it as a "talk/sms" phone but I don't use any apps on it, even only lightly the browser. If you plan on needing the 3g much, I'd recommend the bigger brother 8110

I wouldn't throw someone into the deep end of corporatism based on where this thread started ;) I figured the implicitness of my examples' corps' power fits better as an illustration of the potential short term future. Yours

For "receiving end" perspectives, watch Blade Runner (the old one) or Altered Carbon. The Expanse probbly qualifies too. For books, Peter Hamilton incorporates different mega-corps in his universe but it's not the main object

Read a cyberpunk book. The mega-corp as focal point for resources, innovation and political clout is a scary thought. Consider the almost exclusive dataset they have moated "everyone" else out of, and the long line of disingenuous

Hey Sametmax, big fan of your site. Apart from the existing ecosystem of content, are their any reasons you want BitTorrent over ipfs? Everyone on tor AND ipfs... Now that would be something.

Yeah it's fairly obvious you aren't a military man, thank you for saying it explicitely. The core of my issue with your points is this belief: >the threat of military force is what underpins the overall fairly secure world that
