Federal government's purpose is international relations, trade, and defense. Everything should be handled by the states, counties, and towns. Part of what makes federal debt dangerous is the fact that we can't possibly run the cou

I for one will be really glad if this sparks and industry wide trend to go back to buttons and shift levers rather than buttons or levers that aren't actually good.

As long as they give me something to use in the place of VBA, I can't wait for all forms of Basic to die. It hurts to use it, but I have to because there isn't anything else in Excel.

I mean, the concept actually works, but you have to understand what is actually going into the bundled product. There is no reason you couldn't bundle 100 million in mortgages that had a 10% default risk and sell 10 million of that bun

Welding by hand is both an art and a science. There is going to be variability in the quality of the weld, which will introduce variability into the strength. Machines can be far more precise and consistent compared to humans. They probably

I hate VBA with a passion, but on the other hand it saves me many many hours every month through my ability to automate tasks. I would love for almost any language to replace it, but there has to be some kind of replacement if it goes away.

I really don't think anyone is holding a gun to the project owner's heads and forcing them to use Discord. So they aren't forced into that position. I personally don't like Discord for lots of reasons, but the original b

That sounds like a reason to complain to the management of that organization and see if they can work something out or pick a different tool, not write a blog post ranting about how much you dislike this company.

Umm how does that make sense? The project owner(s) picked a platform for their communication and presumably all current contributors are fine with the choice, and then some third party is coming along and demanding that the entire project c

You are more than welcome to not participate in any group that uses Discord, that is your choice not something that someone else is making you do. It isn't discrimination for a project to be using a tool that you don't want to use

Criticizing someone for making demands, or pointing out that not making demands is more likely to actually accomplish what they want, is not tone policing.

Looks like a nice list of places where I'm willing to live and where I'm not. If my co-workers want to unionize, more power to them, but I'm not going to give the union a single cent. Even if they are officially responsible f

That comparison only holds up if you assume all unions are politically neutral. And I would be shocked if you could find any union that was politically neutral on anything.

Is Kickstarter in a right-to-work state? Because if not, 46 people are forcing 37 to support a union that they might not agree with, which is distasteful in the extreme.

At my local Costco there is like an entire aisle dedicated to coffee/tea. Not sure what other stores are like. At least at my store, things are pretty logically laid out, usually doesn't feel like searching for a needle.
