Interesting project. I think "Lua inspired" instead of "based" would be more accurate. I have been quite happy with luaj for "end-user" scripting on a clojure app we develop. While it requires to know a bit abo

True, I didn't see they allow to query on ranges. I guess you might be able build something on a BloomFilter Trie for that, but that might be pushing it. But for one of the calls (checking a whole password against what's stored),

what? Just send a hash from the client and have the bloom filter built offline with the sames hashes, no big deal. You'd never ask clients to download it.

Wouldn't using a simple bloom filter make sense in their case? Just build the thing offline and your app loads it in RAM at startup.

Happy Dell XPS 13 user here. I have been using it for the past 3 years without any issue. In the same timespan many of my coworkers had to replace/return macbooks (kb glitches, screen issues, battery problems etc). I was a thinkpad onl

There is also Hayt for CQL (cassandra). It's quite mature and used by yapster, featured recently on juxt blog among others. Queries are plain clj maps and there is also a thin dsl provided. https://github.com/mpenet

I love magit & git but emacs has seen many vcs come and go and I am not sure bundling it by default is crucial. Who knows what vcs we'll be using in 10 years, let alone other specific packages that might follow the same route. I&#

There's more than just support to paid db services, look at neo4j, datastax, elastic, mongo and cockroachdb among others.

It probably pays the bills, I guess they're happy with it if that's still a thing after 5 years (?). It's not helping clojure grow as much as it could though and it's a bit a chicken/egg problem, more clojure users

The price is not really an issue. It could be $1 the problem would be the same. It's essentially a black box now, you have no auditing possibility, no way to extend it, no guarantee you can pick up the pieces is cognitect/rich goe

Stuart Halloway said "Datomic is not and will not be open source" in the latest defn podcast, so don't hold your breath. Hopefully they change their mind. They seem to be focused on a cloud (managed?) solution offering at th

It's not all black/white. Nobody is immune to this problem, even with best efforts/practice, saying "let's sue to death small vendors so that big one react" is kind of ridiculous. Again, it's hard to draw

Nope: "updating" does what I described, if another request initiated an update and it's in progress, it will serve a stale value, but the request who triggered the update is still "hanging" until the cache is refres

If you use it for caching, nginx is lacking something quite important at the moment: stale-while-revalidate ( https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc5861 ) Aka serving a cached response while the cache is getting refreshed (even

Good initiative. Clojure developement is driven by the needs of Rich/Datomic these days, it's understandable this might be frustating for users who wish clojure was more community driven, and exploring other areas. I personally ga

Not really, I personnaly see no point of moving our (dozens of) repos to github at the moment. It would cost us a lot more than $0, for no advantage that justifies paying a premium. I am not sure what you mean by ecosystem, but we don'

Isn't it more about the number of cycles it takes to generate the hash more than it's size, since you're likely to do that very often in a db context?
