Hmm - but: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassination_attempts_on_Fide... Looks like it was not that easy - even for a superpower like the USA. Now imagine that they had miniature bots that could follow the target (an

The biggest problem with this is that this is perfect for political assasinations. It can be precise enough and it can be probably leave little traces or be made hard to identify who was controlling the weapon - just like now we have proble

Sorry - I was curious what the HN bunch would tell about this. But you are right - there is not enough information right now for any deep comments. The examples so far are too simple.

Yeah - this is a hard problem and the chances are small. Nevertheless if you had 20+ years of experience in programming textual languages than it is no surprise that you understand them better than visual languages. That part of your argume

In traditional societies public outrage has always been taboo. In our society, when you take into account traditional communication modes, it is not that different. The problem is with electronic communication - which feels like a private c

In my opinion programming is about solving programming problems. There are other important parts - like understanding user needs etc - but solving problems is at the core of it. In practice usually these programming problems are easier - bu

The problem with people writing too concise code is with their motivation not with their abilities - and so it is probably impossible to test (at least directly), because on the test they would have the motivation to do the right thing.

Just to make it explicit - what kind of trade-offs do you have on mind? I have some stake in https://Codility.com - I could perhaps ask them to add a new kind of tests :)

You are right that the biggest part of the job is easy - but testing the easy parts is useless - all programmers would pass it. A test must be hard in some way if it is to filter people. Disclaimer: I have a stake in https://codi

This anthropomorphising is a good way to deliver the message: The devices and applications are not any more simple tools, like a hammer or axe, that we operate - they are more controlled remotely by their creators then by their users.
