California costs are unhinged. I'm extremely excited to get my ducks in a row and move out.

That's true, but it captures folks across such a wide range of stages of life as to be useless. Breaking it down into two to four buckets would make the point more convincing.

50 percent of Boomers owned their own home as 25-to-39-year-olds, compared with 48 percent of Millennials, hardly a difference deserving of headlines or social-media memes. That's a ridiculously wide age range to use for comparison.

Both the regulation and folks' implementation of it is too conservative.

I love that place and make sure to take it in every time I pass by. Makes me smile to think that someone enjoyed some freedom.

GPS is a system for distributing time first and a means of computing position second. A GPSDO is typically a PLL that uses the recovered timebase as a reference input and will have an incredibly slow loop filter. It can be outrageously high

The GPSDO will also give you correct time of day and unwavering frequency. I used to have one set up at home to feed my test equipment a 10 MHz reference.

Around here the overlap is nearly perfect, so I didn't bat an eye when the author treated them as the same thing. And from my table, they're both annoying and undesirable.

I have an account that I made in 2005 that can't get past the circle of login nonsense even though I can provide verification codes when it emails the "backup account". What's the point of the secondary account if you ca

The desktop computer I've been using since 2015 doesn't have a TPM and is still plenty fast for my needs. And probably lots of machines a fair bit newer don't have them either. Hardware from 2020 is very new. Luckily, I have

Most of the SF Bay Area gets its power from PG&E, which is an investor-owned utility. Palo Alto and Santa Clara are exceptions; they have municipal power companies.

Sorry, I didn't really mean to direct the comment at yours, but rather intended to build upon it. I meet a lot of folks around here who point to the Texas grid failure and snicker about how much better California is at regulating the g

How does resetting the chamber after a pulse work? I would naively assume waste products are produced and probably need to be removed eventually, if not on every full "engine cycle". How fast of a repetition frequency is achievabl

I live in the SFBA and have far worse uptime and far higher prices than Texas. The smugness from Californians wrt/grid does not make any sense to me. I would trade for Texas electrical grid performance in less than a heartbeat. There w

I hope you're right, if only so that cgNAT goes away someday. But I'm pessimistic on that front. cgNAT is too easy and works just well enough to make adopting something better too low a priority to ever happen.
