Spoiler Alert: It sucks. It's a web view and it's an amazing hack to make a web view almost "feel" native but it fails. It doesn't fail nearly as hard as the Netflix app, but it's still not the greatest experience. If it wasn't for the fact

This is the standard in many languages and one that I believe that java got wrong. It was a little rushed with the whole concept of forcing everyone to handle all exceptions concept and building so many exceptions in for silly things like c

Is just whitespace enough to be considered a real divider? You're eyes can't track it every well in a complicated interface. You need a huge amount of whitespace to work like real dividing line.

It's a little slow making it over to google code. It's been up for a while. Bleeding edge work is on a private HG and cloned over to Google nightly (or least it's supposed too). Can always come into #growl on freenode and ask for access the

Hey Ben! I'm actually helping out the growl team work towards 1.4. That's entirely an option. This model is similar to Textmate and XChat which remain open source but if you want to download the binary version you can either pay for them a

Can also store in the apps home directory (which is right above the apps Documents directory). They spoke about .nosync at this year's WWDC a few times. Dev forums are a little nuts since they opened the iOS Beta 5 forums to all the non NDA

It actually does. I know because I've been testing with our app. It works perfectly. We build up a fairly large 25MB sqlite db and it doesn't show in iCloud anywhere. In fact, if you use UIManagedDocument, it creates a .nosync directory in

Add .nosync to the file/folder name path and keep it in the home or documents directory. Problem solved. edit: I'm shocked this thread is so long and no body mentioned this. It's been on the apple developer forums for months as a solution.

no. That analogy doesn't fit here. A closer one would be more like Linux supporting FAT32 natively because someone took the time to write proper support for it in an system it wasn't originally designed for (and it works beautifully with al

Sure, it's been done. Why do consumers care? They don't really. Is this for news developers? because not much meat here for the dev crowd and they aren't announcing anything exciting here. Also Amazon's cloud isn't so massively distributed

I agree with Gruber here, which may times I do not. In this case the original article is way off base and he did a good job at pointing it out. In any case though, I don't look up to Gruber as some great technical expert as an engineer thou

This isn't really necessary and most of these packages will be obsolete in iOS 5 and using a few them (like ASIHTTPRequest) will get you in trouble with ARC. * JSONKit - It's an ok choice but there are literally 5 choices I can think of off

Think certially and not distributed there :-) This is handled in projects like the Linux kernel. Could easily enough have the commitor push to a different repo than he pulls from. Then you could have person manually review pull his changes
